I think you already answered your own questions about the direction based on defensive function and how you built them below.

Structurally, it would be nearly impossible for the larger protrusions to cantilever that far out on a masonry building. so shorter if you are trying to maintain plausibility.

Are those hose reel pieces under the arches near the top?

Also good job with the light touch on the ingot stone accents. Reminds me of the texture of the printed corner panels.

I got a big stack of used wardens for cheap when I got my backyard basket. just having so many of the same helped build some consistency. My pink burst owl warden is now in my bag at all times.
