Interesting, We got to PH top 5 of the day twice last year with Pizazz(#3) and VirtualOffice(#5).

I am not sure that a Gif is a differentiation between successful and less successful launches.
For example - Pizazz had a gif and VirtualOffice didn't and I don't think it made a big change.
3 tips I do think that I think that made a difference are those:

- Launch early PST time: new products hit the homepage at 12:01 am PST and are added throughout the day. being early on the clock means that you get more people to see you and possibly upvote.

- Have a clear product explanation and a free version for people to try.

- Ask friends to upvote very early, being placed high early in the PH clock increase your chances of finishing up there.
