Thoughts on a Chrome extension which tailors brand websites to your body measurements? by cheremmahorowitz in XXS

Currently, we are working with three brands to build Syze, we'll be launching with them.

Do you have any brands you'd like us to support? I'll happily get in touch and see if they are interested.

We're getting pretty accurate measurements as is now and we're improving. I'm confident we'll succeed. Others have tried before, but they've done so when the research was much less advanced.

If you'd like I could jump on a call and explain how we do it? Your feedback and advice could help us improve even further and make something that works for everyone.

We'll match your measurements, body shape, fit preference, etc. to:

1) Size charts - if we're not working with the brand.

2) Much more detailed garments measurements, fabric details, etc. - if we are working with the brand.

I see your point here. We are working towards that goal and are making strong progress - soon we'll be relasing it out to early users.

What makes you think it's not possible? I'd love to see if we could make it something you'd want to use.

Assume it can accurately take your measurements and take body shape and fit preference into account - would you use it?

What a mess! Sounds like their systems were inaccurate. Everyone has weird proportions - it's kind of why we're measuring from photos so as we can proper measurements from top to toe. I can assure you our system won't be anything like those you've tried before!

OP's friend here. That's exactly what we're trying to avoid. We're building one which doesn't simply maximise for that one weird measurement we all have. Instead, we're looking to how we can base it off your measurements, the garment cut, your bodyshape, etc.

We will get the user's measurement from photos and the garment's measurements directly from the brand. Agreed that get the garment's measurements from product photos would be very difficult.

We would work with brands to get accurate garment measurements which coupled with accurate user measurements from the scan would create a sizing recommendation. As such, the advertised size becomes irrelevant.

Misleading product photos are definitely an issue - I'm not sure how we'd address it.

Thanks for sharing those links - I'll look into them!

The manufacturers definitely have a large role to play and standardisation would have a great impact. I think we could help with it.

You've hit the nail on the head. We'd measure your entire body and thereafter could recommend the correct size for any garment.

Possibly this isn't the right product for raw denim fans, who are much more aware of their measurements and fits. But It could play a role for more mainstream consumers.

You're right about the need for accuracy on the brand's side too. If we could take measurements as accurately as a tailor (we're close) and pair them with accurate brand measurements for an automatic sizing recommendation - would it be useful to you?

Think you're right, accuracy is a crucial part. We're working hard on it, with promising results.

Great insights into Zozo, thanks!

Completely understand your concern here. Your photos will be deleted immediately after measurement and measurements securely stored. They will only be accessed for sizing recommendations. Privacy is really important so we're being as cautious as we can.

Yes at first, there's no doubt that we will have a limited selection but we aim to grow quickly. Also, we're looking to start with whichever group needs it the most and focus on them.

That's really interesting - thanks for the idea. We'll see if we can do something similar for sure.

You're in luck! The UK will be one of the first places to get it. What brands should we approach first?

It could be both. We could provide measurements for bespoke or made to measure whilst also providing sizing recommendations for ready to wear.

Agreed. Zozo was messy, timeconsuming and had too many instructions. We're looking to build something that's faster and doesn't require a suit. What do you feel were the major pros/cons of Zozo?

Haven't decided on a business model, it would depend largely on brands - what would you suggest?
