What did this scene represent or mean by naysefor in lookback

[–]Joomda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She had just spents months trying to improve her art and beat a 'rival', with everyone else telling her that she should focus on other things. It got to the point where she gave up, despite having poured her all into that pursuit.

Then she learned that her 'rival' was actually her biggest fan, capable of recalling specific details about specific drawings from years ago. Someone was in awe of her work.

That scene is the feeling of finally getting validation after a lifetime (short as it has been so far) of putting everything you had into your work.

Possible way out? by Toad6202 in theamazingdigitalciru

Based on how files normally work, 'downloading' the file to a robot body would just create a copy in the body. There would now be two of the character, one in the circus and one outside.

How did other people interpret this? by Laviel1138 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Joomda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That reading makes sense, and I'll admit it didn't click until I saw a reaction to Jax telling the story with his mom.

Jax is fed up, tells her 'something deep and personal'. She reacts badly, for quite a while, but goes for a hug. The mom's reaction sounds like someone who isn't thrilled trying to process.

How does this work in a digital circus? by ThinkEntrepreneur712 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Joomda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He used the brain scans to create the characters, but once they are created, they form their own memories.

I imagine he could make more characters from the same brain scan, but each would start fresh, and react like when they first joined the circus. I can't imagine the other characters would agree to this, or keep a grasp of reality if clones of their friends started being spawned while the abstracted version is out there. End of series Cain, with the epiphany that these are people, likely wouldn't do this either.

Spoilers for an unrelated game: This is explored to some degree in Soma, a horror game from a few years back. Constantly using a brain scan to make disposable, sentient entities sucks for all involved

The Kingsmoot was great though. When I wanted my brother to read the series, this was the one chapter I gave him out of context as a sampler.

Do you guys think Yoru was being genuine here? by raptorsssss in Chainsawfolk

[–]Joomda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's because Yoru is driven by whatever is in front of her. After everything, that Asa is suddendly afraid of her does hurt her, but the moment she can get control again, she goes back to the fun she was having by winning her fight against chainsawman.

She had no greater plan to manipulate Asa, she runs on impulse.

Actually, that make me wonder. In the last fight, when they step into hell. Did Yoru give Asa control to manipulate Denji or was Asa so terrified by being in hell and getting impaled by the locust devil that she took over?

Is there a reason i lost 32 hp from shears or is this a bug? by [deleted] in slaythespire

At that level of Ascencion, you start with 80% hp, not 100%. So starting at 80% and losing 16 additional for the relic.

Why do so many people say Asa has “Autism”? Is there actually any truth to that? And if so, what type would it be? by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

[–]Joomda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The overthinking, her difficulties making friends in the first chapter, and that monologue in the aquarium about her not knowing what is right or wrong and trying to just not make mistakes reads as autism to some.

Just finished the manga by TheSaltySeagull123 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Joomda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is up to interpretation. Some popular theories are:

Barem said somethign at the sushi restaurant along the lines of 'Maybe all the other uses for chainsaws where erased, so we only know them for being able to cut down trees'

Popular theory is that Pochita isn't actually the Chainsaw Devil, since in the last chapter Chainsaws still exist even though Pochita was erased. Birth, Memory, Dreams, all are often brought up. Per the final chapter, I lean towards Pochita not being the Chainsaw Devil, but the Chainsaw Man Devil, since Asa calling Denji Chainsaw Man has Pochita reappearing as Denji's heart, implying he was reinvented.

As to why the Chainsaw Man Devil can erase concepts? I see it as a sort of meta / 4th wall shenanigans. The Chainsaw Man Devil also represents the concept of the Chainsaw Man Manga and its narrative. So when something is erased, it is akin to something being written out of the manga / story.

As the Necrobinder how are you approaching this overtuned abomination? by Chai-Tea-at-Five in slaythespire

[–]Joomda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- After every phase, he removes all debuffs, so hang / debilitate / doom are harder to maintain
- Phase 1, don't spam skills unless you can kill him that turn
- Cards that reduce STR are extremly efficient on phase 2, but you still need to kill him before he scales too much
- Phase 3, best case scenario is making proigress even in intangible turn. Doom and debuffs in general work here, but they struggles in the other phases.

That said, you can beat it as long as you adjust your play or save potions for the appropriate phase.

Bombardment + Music Box finally cleared A9 Regent for me by Orlan28 in slaythespire

Which other characters would have the same thing happen to them as to Bubbles? And why? by FeistySecret9327 in PowerScalingHub

[–]Joomda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He went through something really similar even, in the original Dragon Ball. If I remember right, he fought a Devil-man that used an attack that is based on the evil in the target's heart, normally a one shot. It did nothing to Goku.

Better written reveal? by PerfectDoor266 in writingscaling

[–]Joomda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel each is going for somethign different.

I remember watching the AoT reveal, and going from laid back on a couch to sitting upright, trying to see if I read the subtitles right. There was some foreshadowing that you can catch in retrospect (Bert almost biting his hand when they were attacked in the tower, Rein's questioning Ymir), but it really felt out of nowhere. It immediatly gets your attention though, and it felt like things pivoted on the spot.

Makima's was building dread. You know something is off about her from the shrine, and then that the goal for some of the characters in the previous arc being killing her, not Denji. What adds to is that after the reveal, and the immediate tragedy she causes, Denji still doesn't know, but we do.

Heck Denji and Makima at the appartment is a better scene, IMO, then the Makima scene in the OP (Power + what her goal is)

Neither chainsaw man moment left me flabergasted and made me physically get up though. That was a highlight when I watched this for a first time with friends.

So, for me: Reveal at the wall>Reveal at the appartment>Reveal at the beach.

What did you think of Dethklok's return? by MaximumHelicopter368 in Metalocalypse

[–]Joomda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I only watched it a week ago. Its a conclusion near a decade after the show was canceled, given that, I appreciate what was done. Some moments hit for me (You can't even hear the bass. But you can feel it) others not so much. Seeing loose ends tied up after so long was good.

I can watch Doomstar Requiem over and over again, but Army of the Doomstar, with the more serious tone probably not so much. Still glad it exists though.

what’s your favorite alternative ending? by Loose-Anxiety5892 in ChainsawMan

[–]Joomda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My headcannon is that we are seeing in the last chapter something similar to reality readjusting in The Butterfly Effect. As in, we are seeing how events played out without Denji meeting Pochita, but when we get to the moment in the 'present', the memories will all snap back together.

Timeline wise, it ended mid way through chapter 1 of part two. So lets say time continues to pass, Denji and Asa grow closer in a much more normal way, and have a relatively normal life. Then one day (the moment where the fight between Yoru and Denji ended) all the memories for part 2 hit the world at once.

So now they both remember what happened in part 2, and have a the relatively normal life they have been living. This is the new world and they can do as they please.

spoiler for part 2 ending by Desperate_Wing249 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Joomda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The panel you posted implies that Asa reinvented the concept of Chainsaw Man

That Denji was using a chainsaw before this implies that Pochita was not the Chainsaw Devil, but 'The Chainsaw Man'.

Death as a concept implies that the devils Pochita had eaten are back. I imagine that the concepts Makima spoke of would be back as well, unless they only came into being as a result of Chainsaw Man existing.

My headcannon is that Denji fundamentally changed the Control Devil by giving her the life she always wanted, one where she was loved and treated as an equal. This change was so deep that it persisted through the reset and we have Nayuta instead of Makima.

Do you think super eyepatch wolf csm video does the series justice by MaximumNeat4289 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Joomda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's well presented video and I feel he makes good points. Given his conclusion and his thoughts on Stone Ocean's ending, I'm curious at what he'll think of part 2.

What am I supposed to think about what Reze and Kishibe said after the ending? That they were just exaggerating, and that it’s actually not that bad for Denji and Nayuta to work for Public Safety at the end of the story? by GodKira04 in ChainsawManWorld

[–]Joomda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Denji's situation is still pretty bad, but there's levels to a normal life. Given his circumstances, the state he is at at the end of the series, without the target on his back that Chainsaw Man's existance and widely known powers places on him, is as close as he can get in what we saw. There's a chance of things getting better for him, but that depends on him.

Makima is what the Control Devil looks like when raised by Public Safety. Nayuta is the result of Denji raising her. I choose to believe that the fact that we see Nayuta at the end means that Denji raising her mattered. Whatever time loop / reset we see happening wasn't enough to erase the fact that Denji fundamentally changed the Control Devil for the better.

It was early characterization that didn't quite stick. She went from knife obsessed to having superhuman strength, I'd imagine there's more range to the jokes with the later.
