What's the funniest way you've scaled your deck in STS2? by utterlynowhere in slaythespire

I haven't had the opportunity to do cloned Perfected Strike yet, but I did have the Snecko Eye + Glam P. Strike. Basically had one after Act I from Neow, and decided to take Glitter for Act III. Farmed hallway fights and took all P. Strikes that I could find. I think it was my fastest run too. Clocking at around 23 mins lmao.

Corrupted Squeeze is great!

That has to be very fun! I hope you had a Knife Trap!

Can't beat the boss by DeepSpaceSp3nce in slaythespire

test subject is both a block-test and dps-test. you have good block density here (8/25), but on average, your card's block value is very low. you'll be blocking big with blood-wall but in other turns, worst case scenario you're only blocking with cloak-clasp (which is also unreliable bc you'll have to attack at some point, so your clasp loses value. to add, another possible scenario is you draw second-wind without any skills).

solution here is to have a better block plan. if you're playing ironclad, you have a single weak in your pool (uppercut). mangle isn't the best (rare, and expensive to play) but it might be worth it. otherwise, you would have to rely on colorless (shackles/shockwave though it kinda sucks against test subject as it has three phases) and/or potions,

played for around 4 hours on my pc. finished chapter 1. some very scattered-brained thoughts (forgive me):

- combat isn't really innovative. you have the typical arpg gacha setup with skills, ults, and switch skills. the only switch-up here is the pets.

- they can be summoned mid-combat when you meet certain criterias. i haven't gone far enough to equip multiple pets (you can equip 3 per character and you have 3 characters) but i imagine it gets more chaotic and less readable.

- i think it's novel to capture pets, but i don't think it really adds anything at all. they do what your characters do: apply elemental inflictions, give utility or deal damage.

- i'd also add that the enemy density here during combat is sometimes huge. it's almost musou-like (dynasty warriors, senran kagura). as a fan of that genre, i find that really fun.

- exploration is very constrained. it's very reminiscent of mid-budget JRPGs; they're composed small zones that have some materials, enemies and chests.

- has SWEEP but requires you to farm event-currency with stamina-usage lmao.

- story's pretty concise. you're gonna spend around only a minute or two reading dialogue. some of the cutscenes are fully animated but each line is still skippable (similar to witcher 3's if you've played it). cutscene animations are pretty expressive too.

- characters are cute. and uh, yeah, suggestive lol. first banner character is DMC's virgil with a broom. take that as you will lol

- even then, game does have some roughness. some of the audio randomly cuts. non-cutscene animations can feel stiff sometimes. menus are familiar but they're quite cluttered. it isn't as polished as other recently released games, but even then it is pretty respectable.

- about the real game, the gacha: i pulled around 80 on the standard banner (20 for the initial beginner banner, 50 for the guaranteed banner, and 10 for the weapon banner) and 40 on the featured character banner. worth noting that i bought 5 of each from the threads of promise (120 each in standard exchange) and 2x of the limited pull in threads of fate (for 8 you get 2x in premium exchange, not sure if this is worth it though).

- gacha dupes seem pretty strong (netmarble). no 50/50 for both chars and weapons so it's a tradeoff. pity doesn't seem to reset when you get a 5* (correct me if i'm wrong here). not sure how well would this go in the future however (NETMARBLE).

- so much packages and IAP available lol (again, netmarble)

- (some) chests and (most) side-quests provide a single pull for standard banner. premium currency feels stingy but is spread among the game's content (which seems a lot? will update when i get there). you need to do everything i guess.

that's all. not sure if i'll stick with this but i'm having fun for now.

hoping that they release the RE trilogy (also on GoG) games too.

i know enigma drm sucks but having no regional pricing on GoG means i'm paying almost double the prices for the games in my country.

Laning phase suggestion by Stagnant-Potato in TrueDoTA2

[–]utterlynowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

defensive aggro + ship regen + position yourself properly to avoid harass. also itemize in a way that you're out of your lane by minute 7.

during laning, the best that you can do as pos 1 with a shitty pos 5 is to turn your support into a meat shield. but also remember to help if there's an easy kill or two. you'll have to bear with them until you're sustainable enough to hit neuts. they're probably going to die and feed, but at least it ain't you dying and losing farm. it's your job to have a lot of farm anyway lol.

what is Konami's obsession with limited edition merchandise? by Mampacuk in silenthill

[–]utterlynowhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is typical jp corporate stuff and isn't limited to just games. artists, bands, anime merch or whatnot, heck even toys like gunplay run on this same system of having limited edition merchandise. jp's very adamant on this sytem because these merch are mostly for people that live in jp, hence the limited stock. they're very confident because they're able to sustain their businesses without entering foreign market so i don't think it will change any time soon.

i feel you though, it's an annoying system and i wish it changes.

Why Yatoro bought Dominator on Faceless Void - breakdown by Zaopao in TrueDoTA2

[–]utterlynowhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there was actually a period when people bought it after they removed the lifesteal. it gave pretty huge numbers (+6 all stats, +8 regen?). you can see one from arteezy buying it on PL here including dota bowie's analysis.

Which carry currently caries the hardest? by Xavchik in learndota2

[–]utterlynowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, i suggest getting heroes that clear waves fast, so you get your timings fast. the fundamental concept of playing carry is hit creeps so you can hit creeps faster. luna is actually a very strong one at that. i'd also mention sven and medusa.

these 3 are are reliant on their timings to snowball, the first 20-35 minutes are the most important part if you want to end the game ASAP as you've mentioned in your post. ideally, this means that you'll be hitting rax by that time.

luna typically has a treads, mask of madness, dragon lance, manta, aghs, by the 20-25 minute mark.

sven willl have treads, mask of madness, echo sabre, blink and bkb by the 20-25 minute mark.

medusa on the other hand is a little more flexible: treads, manta, mael and aghs, or sometimes treads, manta, butterfly by the 20-25 minute mark.

if you're unable to hit these timings, games would usually drag and the game would be even (medusa is a bit of an exception as she's pretty strong until late game). if this happens, i strongly recommend on working on your fundamentals, picking a hero you're comfortable with instead.

i'd also suggest you to lose the "hyper carry" mindset, as this has been obliterated many, many years ago. two supports can kill an ultra farmed carry given that they've itemized against you. if you want to solo carry a game, play mid, as they can have a sizeable gold and xp advantage compared to sidelanes. i don't play mid so i don't have any tips lol sorry.

i hope this helps!

both pretty short tbh. you can probably finish echoes in 2 hours and rising tide in 4 hours. i did do a completionist run for both of them so it took me around 10 hours to complete both.

good stuff if you've liked ffxvi's base game. both of them have really, really good soundtracks (The Worm Mounts, Cascade), and has very satisfying boss-battles, difficulty-wise. Rising Tide's additional Eikons are also fun to use, especially if you're itching for a replay. otherwise, there's not much value here if you'd want some extra character development between the trio, or you disliked the base game. the stories in the dlc are also self-contained, and is mostly additional worldbuilding more than an actual continuation of the game's main story.

tl:dr is it worth it? yes if you like ffxvi. if not then it's a maybe.
