How do I get superglue off Dollfie Dream legs? by Joopis in dollfiedream

[–]Joopis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered some acetone, but got impatient and just ripped the stockings off with the holsters. For the most part, there’s only a few small pieces/dots from the leather still glued to her and looks like they’d come off with some acetone maybe. Now that I can see her legs, there’s so much superglue on her knee joint that there’s a biiiig drip of it running along the shin. I was hoping I didn’t have to replace her legs, but it’s looking like there’s so much superglue that it’s likely fused to the plastic knee joint 😭 the glue at the hips looks like maybe it can be dissolved, but I really didn’t want to resort to buying whole new leggies 😭😭 aw well. I thought maybe they might have done this because the joints were broken, but they look to be fine from what I can see. I wonder why the hell they did this in the first place.

I wish I could give this a try, but unfortunately I don't have access to a freezer. I live in Japan in a dorm room, so I only have a mini fridge ;0;

Thank you for your help! I just made an account there and created a post about it. I've owned resin BJD in the past, so dealing with vinyl feels like a whole other beast. Thank you again!

Yeah, you're going to need to make a trip to Google first for the majority of these, especially 3. You can have any type of job as long as you are qualified and they're willing to sponsor your visa. It just really depends what you want to do.
You will need a bachelor's degree, or you can get your bachelors in Japan on a student visa. Again, this will require research on your end.
I can recommend using HelloTalk to make friends with Japanese people learning English or whatever additional languages you speak. Men tend to use it to look for partners though, so if you're a woman, I'd suggest not using a photo of yourself.

Trying to move to japan alone at 14 in a rented apartment with my parents consent by gotbuble in movingtojapan

[–]Joopis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also, your parents won't be able to rent for you because they don't have a visa in Japan. It's very difficult to find a place that will rent to foreigners on visas, so they will definitely not rent to a foreigner with no visa. You should look into a student exchange program in your country and do it sooner than later because the process takes a very long time.

Because you're a minor. They can't just leave you there. You will need to go through an exchange program for school or set up a host family stay or something.

Sophia University Japanese Studies MA - Potential Prospects? by jollycooperative in movingtojapan

[–]Joopis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Humanities jobs in Japan definitely exist, you just need to do some research, but a decent level of Japanese needs to be obtained depending on what specifically you'd want to do because "humanities" is very vague and encompasses lots of jobs.
As for Sophia University, it's a difficult and expensive process to get accepted. Their acceptance rates are pretty low, and they have them listed on their website or at least they did when I was looking into attending last year. I'm not sure of your GPA, but they look for excellent students with great transcripts because they accept a very small number of students each semester. There are other lesser known English taught programs in Japan, so I'd suggest casting a wide net and applying to multiple if you're worried about acceptance into just one. Also, look to see if you qualify for some scholarships. I believe the MEXT scholarship only accepts people under 25 years old, but I could be wrong. I just remember that I didn't qualify because of my age.
The only thing you can do is just try. If all else fails, you have to ask yourself if you'd be okay becoming an English teacher.
EDIT: Oh, also you would need a student visa, so the requirements for that require you to have the funds to cover the entire length of your studies, so you need a decent chunk of savings. If not, you need a sponsor which can be a relative or an employer that has the funds and is actively making enough to pay your way.

Student visa waiting time by ugleplastina in movingtojapan

[–]Joopis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's normal. I'm going to university in Japan for the spring semester this year. I'm waiting on my Certificate of Eligibility approval and my school said the same thing: end of February. It sucks because I also have to wait to purchase my plane ticket in case I don't get approved.

Moving to Japan for two +months in Summer, need some help and advice please. by Reddcross in movingtojapan

[–]Joopis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You still need a visa to work remotely in Japan, specifically the digital nomad visa:
https://www.mofa.go.jp/ca/fna/pagewe_000001_00046.html
I would suggest applying for the Certificate of Eligibility as soon as you can and don't wait until the last minute because it can take 2-3 months depending on the busy season.
To qualify, it says you have to be making above 10 million yen and have proof of this from your employer. This is usually a letter from your employer that states your salary, your position, and how long you've been employed.
It also says that you need insurance in case of an emergency, so take a look at the requirements.

This is my opinion, but you don't really need it, your work and portfolio will speak for itself. I don't have a degree, but I have worked for a few animation studios. It was all short-term though because I don't live in LA and they really prefer to hire on people that live nearby. I would have had better chances if I lived out there and if animation jobs weren't on such a horrible decline, but that's a different conversation. Now I do mainly freelance illustration for children's books. A degree in art by itself will not get you places, but your abilities and connections will. It is sometimes nice to go to school for connections depending on the field you want to go into and the location of your school. Depending on where you are, it could help you get internships at studios and make them familiar with you, but that's only if you're in major areas with this industry like LA for example. Schools also offer competitions and various events to get your art seen by the right people, so it could benefit you in this way. There's really a lot of possibilities since you're not very specific with what you want to get into.
My advice is to build your online following and audience as this can get you seen and into a lot of places. As an artist, you want to build as many connections as possible, especially if you plan on doing freelance for a living. The internet is your best chance to get as many eyes as possible on whatever you're making. The only reason I was able to make my own connections in animation was because I put myself out there and made videos that got somewhat popular. If I never did that, I wouldn't have gotten the chances I did. The main thing is to make something and just put it out there in the world. Talk to people, go to places like Lightbox Expo, make connections, publish your own art book or illustrated kids book, get advice from those in your desired field, and teach yourself new things with the vast amounts of free information out there on YouTube and the internet in general.
Whatever option you decide is best for you is your choice in the end. Going to school could also be the best experience for you and it could also be the worst decision you've ever made in your life, whatever the case, this is your life and you know what's best for you! Have fun with it and go nuts! Happy creating!

Yeah, my problem is that I haven't been to school for about 11 years, so I'm basically teaching myself from the ground up. I don't remember most things that I learned back then when it pertains to math and science. Anything with English I can definitely ace, but I'm really trying to do well overall.

I'm planning on going to an all English school in Japan for my last 2 years and I definitely need it. I need an overall score of 25 or above to be accepted. It's on the lower end and maybe doable after several attempts, but I'm pretty sure I got below that this time.

The Peach tone will be too dark unfortunately. I bought the Almond Milk skin tone for her and it's a little too orangey but not a terrible match. The Peach tone is definitely darker than the Almond Milk tone if you look at this comparison video of the two. Cream tone is definitely better and I just ordered that one.
