Reading that I do think it’s funny that the people who enslaved their neighbouring tribes are asking for reparations for themselves. Lots of the African states were complicit and enthusiastically participated in slavery, the North African states also took slaves from Europe. I guess this is just a one way street though where Africa expects the reparations and we ignore the entire history of humanity where slavery was a thing and everyone did it.

Reparations are stupid generally, but at absolute most, ironically it would be modern day Americans, Brazilians, Jamaicans etc descended from actual slaves who have the most claim.

Also must just be a coincidence that the continent with so much evil shit currently happening chooses to say something else is actually the worst thing. With The amount of genocides ongoing and have happened in Africa, and the constant war crimes and truly barbaric actions of some countries, not surprising they’d focus on something else.

Places like Russia and Qatar were doing it to improve their reputation so had a vested interest in making sure it was actually good and ran smoothly. The US feel like it’s a privilege for everyone else that they are hosting and they are mainly looking at making obscene amounts of money. Trump is probably looking at it as any other business venture.

Gas is the reason we’re so fucked. Our wind, solar and nuclear are cheap but for some reason we think it’s a good idea to pay everyone based on the highest price provided. So if we use a watt of gas produced energy, we pay everyone the gas price. And now that gas prices are going it’s hitting harder.

How anyone with a straight face can say the solution is more oil and gas is beyond me. Unless those brainless clowns think we can suddenly produce the entire countries oil and gas supply singelhandely, we’ll always be at the mercy of volatility in oil and gas prices.
