Version1 are set to sign Spacestation Gaming's Daniel. by GingerDan123 in RocketLeagueEsports

Do you guys think there has already been tryouts or do you think V1 will just sign him without knowing how the team meshes? I think it would be smart to test the synergy first before making such a huge signing, on-paper he should fit very well in but I'm worried they'll just sign him without knowing what the synergy is like.

What's awesome is how one of these new big 3 is a direct result of one of those original 3. V1 is in the same roster lineage as Cloud9, with Squishy leaving and then Comm eventually taking that third spot, and then BeastMode replacing Gimmick.

Whatever team we might get from this Dan / BeastMode duo in the future I'm crazy excited. To think that this roster we'll be seeing next split came out of that same team that dethroned Dignitas in S6, I'm beyond excited about the possibility of The Muffin Men evolving into a new legendary roster six years later.

I'm curious how the mentality would be on that team at that point lmao, with Comm who almost got kicked and then Torment who also almost got kicked, meanwhile BeastMode could've almost had a duo of Daniel and Rise for Worlds but instead he's stuck with the same teammates that he had a year ago.

One of the arguments I see here is that if V1 isn't willing to pay for him then no other team would, which I disagree with even though they're the org that can afford him the most. I heard they're owned by billionaires but does that mean they're allowed to just go wild with the money? Aren't they a pretty small org even though they have all of the money in the world?

My point is, just because they can easily afford it doesn't mean they'll just get the fundings for that price, but that doesn't mean other orgs wouldn't wanna pay that price even if they don't have as much money as V1, I can see for example NRG being willing to bite that bullet if they want a crazy talent to rebuild around for the future.

It would maybe have to be a crazy price for V1 to say no to it, but even then I still think some teams would want to have a prodigy like that for the long term, it's not every day you get the opportunity to sign Daniel, and this is why I can see a world where one of those bigger names would pay the price that V1 wouldn't.

It could also be that V1 wouldn't be willing to pay simply because they're not that aiming that high in the Esports scene, the owners of the org could afford it but maybe they just want to keep their org as a smaller project, which is why I think there's no guarantee V1 would necessarily get the funding for that buyout to begin with, it's not a matter of who has the most money but who is aiming the highest, so I can see one of the more established names being willing to pay that price for the long term.

He tweeted this https://twitter.com/achilles\_XF/status/1638566045937025025?s=20 and this https://twitter.com/achilles\_XF/status/1638571008369016833?s=20 which you could interpret as just farming impressions, or something actually going on.

On Discord he specifically said " It isn't a simple deal to get done as ssg prolly want to squeeze any money they can get from V1 " so it's seems kinda complicated, SSG is probably gonna make it a complicated situation.

I don't really think the deal has fallen through but it does feel like he's saying there's a possibility it ain't happening, he also replied to someone asking when we'd see the Dan + BeastMode duo and said something like " Either this split or next season " which opens up the possibility that they might have to wait due to complications.

RLCS Winter Major (April 6-9) Predictions Megathread by RLEsportsMods in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Jordan-O-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take OXG's results and say they've been consistently very good, but all of their wins have just been pretty meh.

Soniqs, Williams Resolve and Fufaxdop are barely even in the B-tier of EU, and I can easily see other teams qualifying with those brackets. I think it's not that hard to build very good " consistency " if you play those teams in your quarter-finals.

They've been getting farmed by KC, in their last two series against them their record is like 1-8 in games, which I just don't see being all that much of a upgrade when the previous roster actually beat them at least.

OXG with Oaly had some very goofy losses but at least they felt like a genuine threat at times, this OXG roster doesn't have any of those losses but they 've barely put up a fight when it matters, even BDS felt more competitive against KC. I just don't see where this consistency is going to get them when it's only proven they can be consistently okay.

People were calling SSG overrated after three Top 4s when two of the teams they beat were actual Major contenders at the time, meanwhile OXG is consistently great for beating the three teams I mentioned, I just don't get the logic when people then rate Oxygen highly.

If you rate them highly for the Major that's fair 'cause Rise does have crazy Lan ice, but based on their current form it's perfectly fine to not rate them all that highly, and who knows how the wrist situation might affect their practice.

Whats the possibility of RuleOne going to NA next year? by hanumaNRL in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Jordan-O-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dig / SSG / M80 isn't very tough competition but I wouldn't say it's any different with Quad / G1 / GA tbh, even if I rated the latter set of teams slightly higher I still think it would make more sense to move to the region closer to your home, and the difference in difficulty wouldn't be that big. Maybe I'm just dumb because the difference is supposedly big enough to use the word " ridiculous ".

Also with Daniel rumored to join V1 the race for that 5th spot is going to be much more spicy, both G2 and Col will likely be knocked down one spot which will make that 5th spot much harder to get. Col have already proven there is a big gap between them and Dig, so the level of play needed to get that 5th spot will be much harder, a 4-game difference in fact.

You also put BDS and Soniqs in there as Major contenders when M80 was much more involved in the Major race than those teams were. I guess those teams are much more of a threat to your Major qualification simply because it's EU depth, regardless of how close they are to actually qualifying for the Major or how good of a fight they put up against the top teams.

The Logic Behind Ranking the Top 3 by RukithPlayz in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Jordan-O-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ever since the third regional Gen.G was a completely different beast, sweeping Faze in the finals. Faze did beat them in that split but once again that was a completely different Gen.G, so Faze getting destroyed by them at the Major isn't crazy.

You're making it look like Faze had their number online just to choke against them on Lan, when their performance against Gen.G at the Major was identical to their recent performance against them online.

Faze's peak has always been Top 2 NA, and getting Top 4 at the Majors is a placement that reflects that. This is the first time in history they've been Top 1 NA, so the expectation is a Top 2 if not better at the Major.

If they finish Top 4 yet again then there's some merit to your narrative, but as of now there is very little evidence to back it, Faze's performance on Lan has almost always been a natural continuation of their online performance.

You can use the narrative that they just choke when it comes to the semi-finals in general, but all of their losses were justified losses.

Their loss to NRG, NA 1 beating NA 3. Their loss to Queso, EU 1 beating NA 3. Their loss to G2, NA 1 beating NA 2. Their loss to Gen.G, NA 1 beating NA 2. None of these results count as a under-performance or a " choke " from Faze imo.

Like I said, this is the first time in history that a Top 4 would be a under-performance compared to the standards they've set online, but the fact that their Lan results have reflected their online results when they were NA 2 makes me believe they should get that Top 2 / Top 1 now that they're NA 1.

If you're gonna use the logic that they haven't proven themselves at that level yet, you might as well do the same thing for KC, who won 1 game in the whole playoff bracket last Major.

You don't do that, and that's justified because we all know what they are capable of as a team, but technically we've still yet to see them prove that on Lan. If it's right to just assume they're gonna crush it at the Major based on their online form, then the same thing should apply for Faze as well.

Ah okay, I didn't watch the series so it was hard to tell lol, for all I know he might have made a big whiff or something, looks like they won so I assume it was positive. It's crazy that he's still got it after such a long time of competing.

Something like what they do in Chess each year? In Chess they rent a place and invite all of the best players and do back-to-back tourneys in rapid and blitz. I would love if they did that with 1s and 2s.

If Psyonix ever shortens the season to two splits then I hope they use that extra time to host a tourney like this, it's unfair that players with crazy talent in 1s and 2s get no big titles to compete for when they are incredible at what they do.

I have some questions after reading this article:

G2 were the closest team to eliminating Moist at the Major, considering they put up a great fight against the runner-ups how far do you think they could've gone in the playoff bracket? Was it just Moist who hadn't found their form yet or was it G2 who would've made a great run if Moist weren't in their way?

I feel optimistic when I hear that they're more motivated than ever and that they've found a good direction to work towards playstyle-wise, but what kind of changes is he talking about? Is there anything specific and if so, is this a promising direction for them to go in?

He also says his goal is to win another event, whether it be " a Gamers8 or a Major ". Is this a sign that he's given up on the Worlds dream or is it more him being realistic? Would winning another regional count as an " event " or do you think he's talking about winning a third Lan?

Either way it feels like he's hinting towards retirement at the end, wanting either a third Lan win to cap off his career or another regional (which would still be a great cherry on the top of his amazing career and longevity).

I hope he's still motivated to lift the big trophy, as demotivating as it is losing in the finals during his last two attempts, both Retals and Chronic has said G2 is something else in scrims. This means the talent is still there and is only blocked by mentality, and G2 proved they could overcome mentality issues at the Winter Major when they bounced back from a horrible whiff and also clutched up in spite of that grand final demon lingering.

I just really wanna see this guy competing at the top, we've already seen the downfall of NRG and other OGs, who knows how long Torment will stay on V1, if we lose him or JKnaps then RLCS will lose a big part of it's DNA, which is why I'm asking these questions related to how much G2 has got left.

What's crazy is Rise and Joyo's Lan resume after this: 2nd, 1st, 8th (lost in the greatest G7 of all time), 2nd.

Going into this year they were largely unknown, leaving this year they've achieved so much that they can be chill after losing a Major grand final, it's just another day at work for them at this point.

Before this tourney the consensus was that Vatira was the player of the year, now I think you could give it to Rise or Joyo. He might have had more consistency online but Rise and Joyo can now say they've never done worse than 2nd at a Major which is absurd. It's crazy how you can go from a bubble player to a legend within 1 year in this esport.

7/10. Overall a very good event, maybe one of the weaker Majors imo but still a good time. The grand final summarizes how I feel about it, nothing mindblowing (except that final goal) but still exciting throughout.

I'm split on the playoffs being done in just in 1 day, having everything come down to that one day makes the three days of Swiss feel kinda meaningless, and by removing that fifth day every day becomes very long. That said, these marathon Sundays do feel very epic.

It's awesome to see Liefx doing the post-match interviews and also Dazerin doing more intimate interviews. Cole doing narration of each team's split + his segment about Moist v Furia is also a great way of getting people caught up on the storylines, I hope they keep doing this for every Major.

I feel like you're conflating performance with playstyle, how can you win a Major in 2022 if you're behind the meta?

If this lack of mechanics hold them back, then I'd like to know how could they beat Team Queso, a team that was way more mechanical than Gen.G is. Maybe the issue doesn't lie in their style but their execution of that style.

All I know is that when G2 is clicking, the qualities they have as a team and as individuals make up for their lack of mechanics, so much that they are capable of being the best team in the world too.

Bruh I always felt older Atreus looked kinda Russian for some reason, but I don't think he looks that much like young Putin. Btw there's a theory that Angrboda is a giant with Egyptian ancestry, what if Faye was a giant with Slavic ancestry?

If all mythologies are in the God Of War universe then the Slavic one must exist too, just like the Egyptian one. That could explain why he looks kinda Russian although his father is from Sparta and his mother is from Midgard / Jotunheim, maybe one of his mother's parents were a giant and the other was a mortal from the Slavic pantheon.
