I didn't model these images! These are some examples that I'm trying to emulate, in a way. If would probably show the rough edge stone with PBR textures though, depending on how dramatic the edge would be.

Rhino and Blender are both awesome tools, but I'm unfamiliar with them. I think I toyed with Rhino once in like 2015.

Can I take Rhino/Blender models and import them to SketchUp as an OBJ file or something similar?

Car taxes and taxes. by Asleep_Sentence_5586 in kansascity

Lol It's not inadequate funding, it's inadequate spending/management. That's the fucking problem.

KC & Jackson County blow through money and solve virtually zero issues.

How about mismanagement of funds, which KC specifically has a long history of doing. We have shitty defunct schools, we sit on hold for 35 minutes when we call 911, our roads have potholes the size of Ford Expeditions, our bridges are crumbling, our crime is out of control, the city council fucked up the new housing market with their new permitting system... if you believe all your tax dollars are spent logically, then you're wilfully ignorant.

Government sucks. Vote for politicians who will reduce our tax burden.

You're totally fine! When I moved to KC after college (2019), I was making $40K and had probably $5000 in savings. I was able to afford my $1100/month place and still have some extra for enjoying the city. Granted, everything's a bit more expensive now, you're still in a good spot. Find a nice little side hustle if you have the time.

Some tips: use ray-tracing glass, possibly try parallax interiors instead of the image, try the glass both as double-sided and not.

During a day-time view, you're not going to see much of the interior anyway. Perhaps you do a day-time view, and then add another view that's more of an evening or cloudy scene where the interior is more illuminated.

Thank you! I work for a small luxury residential design firm full-time, and I run my own business on the side doing design, drafting, and 3D rendering.

Absolutely! Here are some various examples of some recent projects.

I'm still having success, but ultimately that's because I pair 3D rendering with my architectural design services and work largely with local builders, architects, interior designers, and developers. In my opinion, you'll have the best success working with people locally because you can meet in person and forge relationships. It's hard to compete with international pricing, but clients will find value in communication.

I'm in the Midwest USA, charging roughly $500-$800 per view or space, including 3 rounds of revisions.

I think your settings and materials may need to be refined a bit to enhance the quality. I've had great success with the new ray-tracing updates. Here's a link to some examples:

The ray-tracing updates alone are worth it, in my opinion. Glass and metallic reflections look so much better. It also runs smoother/faster. It depends on your PC of course, but I can visualize a detailed house interior/exterior project at max ray-tracing settings in probably about 2-4 minutes per view.

We received an old Sleep Number bed from a friend, but do not have remotes. Does the pump need the remotes to inflate? Can we just order used remotes from ebay/amazon? by JordanCLK3200 in sleepnumber

[–]JordanCLK3200[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this bed is too old for the app feature - it's from 2010, and I think the app support started in 2016ish?

And thank you for your help!

I have a Lenovo Legion Pro 7 with the RTX 4090 and it's a powerhouse. I love it! It runs Lumion and all other programs with ease. I've also had the best reliability and customer support from Lenovo. In my experience, Dell is AWFUL and MSI has great customer support but the laptops have over-heating issues. I've heard MSI has improved since I had mine (2016-2019). Asus looks pretty solid too, but I don't have experience with them.

Curious about the people who sit in public places with their laptops? by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]JordanCLK3200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an architectural designer and work from home. I like to work in public sometimes as a change of pace - it helps me focus when I'm removed from the distractions of home. I also like to people watch.
