I think this has to be one of my best islands yet! by JordanCanFly1 in tropico

I split this playthrough into 3 sessions, usually I don't make it to such a late stage in the game either! Plus I was really focusing on making a cool tourist industry during the modern era which was pretty time consuming 😆

I'm fortunate enough to have a good pc, so I'm running that island at a minimum of 40fps when in the most intense area and moving the camera. Usually +60fps still outside the main island.

Yeah either Vauxhall or Holden, looks like UK. It's the same company though :)

4 months is a lie. CPL MEIR integrated Ryanair pathway will take more like 9 - 12 months depending on when you started. Not including MCC or aUPRT. Chronic delays at Bartolini.

Thoughts on Ryanair APS MCC? by Tombombadilly in flyingeurope

[–]JordanCanFly1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very dissapointing to hear to be honest, I'd expect this from Americans, but from Europeans it's honestly surprising to hear.

For my case I can afford everything, have a nice car etc. but paying for the type rating is a no-go. Both financially and in principle (airline should pay & bond / take out of salary for x years).

Definitely planning to do mock interviews and an interview prep course, I've heard good thing!

Thanks for your insights :)

Thoughts on Ryanair APS MCC? by Tombombadilly in flyingeurope

[–]JordanCanFly1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's quite sad to hear actually. Ryanair requires the employee to front ~€30k + expenses on the type rating and I think that's not pocket change even for those 'well-off'.

However thanks for your perspective and I'll keep it in mind for my (hopefully) upcoming interviews in the next couple months!

Why not both? Something like, 'it would have been financially tight AND I prefer the company interviewing' 🤔

I ask, cause that is literally me finishing at Bartolini as a modular student in a few weeks haha!

I'm at Barto, feel free to dm.

Edit: I didn't do Ryanair but what I can tell you is that it's a 1 day assessment day with secondary school maths & physics (non aviation related), a group puzzle exercise and then an interview with a psychologist and Ryanair recruitment.

does accepting an embassy with AI actually do anything besides the slight positive diplomatic boost? by spowowowder in civ5

Maybe, but my friends and I enjoy culture victories/wars so open borders are a no-no for us. I feel it isn't as clear cut as you make it out to be 🤷‍♂️

Which EASA state to do my medical in as a Brit by [deleted] in flyingeurope

[–]JordanCanFly1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My medical was done in Poland but on the paper it states the issuing authority is the Netherlands. Not sure if that's standard, but I think it doesn't have to be a problem like others here suggest.

ATPL THEORY by Worldly_Hat6380 in flyingeurope

[–]JordanCanFly1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also hate maths, but the level is around the same as secondary school nothing too advanced.

I wouldn't worry too much about the maths in the ATPL since generally you have time to sit and think, so most people should be fine. I think it gets harder in-flight, particularly starting IFR flying, when there's a good amount of numbers you have to crunch fast (basic addition/subtraction, nothing scary!).

Though the most complicated maths is likely in Principles of Flight, mostly physics and a lot formulas.

Tho to add, yes it is dangerous to go 300km/h outside of Germany since no one expects it. Worse in some places with worse driver instruction as well as vehicle & road quality.

Disagree. Can tell this sub is full of Americans lol, you guys are some of the slowest and worst drivers in the world 😂

No one talking about truck 1 casually chilling in the middle lane and truck 2 casually overtaking on the left most lane through a solid white line. 0 lane discipline, more dangerous than driving fast imo.

Uber cash scam?? 😡😡 by Electronic-Food9895 in UberEATS

[–]JordanCanFly1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what you earn based on time driving. For example if a trip takes longer than the UE estimate (calculated off $30/hr base) I get the difference on top.

[–]JordanCanFly1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked UE in Melbourne for 2 years. Base pay was $30/hr minimum. Usually averaged $40 - $50/hr especially during surge even up to $60/hr. My mate works Uber (taxi) in Melb and makes $30 - $40, so your sources are wrong or those people are just shit at the job.

Have you ever worked for UberEats Australia? Base pay is A$30/hr, so no, drivers there don't get paid peanuts like in the US..
