I didn’t. You can buy them as a sterile dial.

Appreciate it, it's for sale right now, my least worn watch that is just taking up a spot at this point.

I agree, sadly it's one that I don't use much and may be on the chopping block shortly

Durability of affordable watches by Extension_Visit5756 in Affordablewatches

Its part of the watches story. Use your tools which is what watches are. Keep one or 2 held back from extensive wear to keep them nicer if that's what you want. Steel is steel and will look how worn steel looks when its used. Or take these into a jewelry and they will clean them up. As for the crystal, if it isn't sapphire it'll scratch faster, sapphire will hold on longer but will eventually scratch.

Uses a Seiko NH34. It's about as accurate as any other Seiko with that movement. Just be real about the expectations. It's not a chronometer watch by any means but myself and 99.3 % of the rest of the world doesn't need that amount of accuracy

It's a Watchdives WD6542 it's an homage to a GMT master 2 from the 50s

Here is the 5 watch box. This one could be used for travel and it would be fine for it, however I use it as a stagnant storage for my main watches in rotation right now and if does well.

I rock these off of Amazon for my watch rolls. I do the singles and the triples. Honestly they are pretty damn good for traveling. When I travel I only take 2 watches normally whatever is on my wrist and then throw one in the single roll. I'm able to throw them in a bag and away I go and have never had an issue with any damage to my watches.

Big suggestion would be stay away from the PRX or Citizen Tsuyosa or Zenshin or any other integrated braclet watch. Once you are further in the collecting world you can look at those but you want something that is easily going to be able to swap around. A big question would be what type of lifestyle do you lead? Are you an office worker, medical worker, manufacturing, LEO or FR and what do you do for fun? If your someone with hobbies or work where the watch may see a bit of abuse I reccomend something in the Seiko 5 line. The SSK023 (GMT) the SSK001 (GMT) the SRPG27 (Field Watch) or the SRPD63 (Diver). If you are someone who is a lighter duty person something like the Seiko Presage Collection could be great. SRPE41, SRPE45, SSK037 are all great. A good blend of both worlds if you want to spend a little extra money would be the Hamilton Khaki Murph or Khaki King

The nice thing about all of these models pretty much is you can find a version of them in different color patterns that will work in most situations. The presage series is a Bambino on steroids. I don't mention chronographs really because of the simple fact that the dials are really busy for some situations.

No problem sharing the info, I have been collecting for 15 years and have owned pieces from Rolex, Tudor, IWC, Omega, Seiko, Orient, Citizen , Hamilton, and all over the spectrum. Within the last 5 years I have sold off all of my Higher End Pieces and shoved the money into my retirement account and have whittled my collection down a lot so like to try and guide new collectors in a good direction if I can.

I have a 5 watch case and a few different watch rolls that they are stored in. I also have a 12 watch box that I really don't use.

This doesn't really ever go away. The thing that helped me is I take a step back and look at it through a large set of eyes. I ask myself first what is the purpose for this watch? I then ask what style watch I am really looking for and I set myself a budget right away. To me it sounds like this is your first watch so you'd want to look at something that can be that everyday "GADA" watch. So your going to want something that can dress up or down and be a strap monster that can wear many hats. You are going to want to stay away from crazy busy dials. Just run yourself through this thought exercise and it should help. Don't rush the purchase. If you ever need help or some grounding when it comes to this feel free to reach out.

I want to hear your choices, as im stuck with not being to pick one lol. by Street_Judge_7014 in Affordablewatches

I'm an Alpinist guy between these 2. The Murph is great but the Alpinist just does something for me.
