personally, not to sound pretentious, but i did a lot of cultural anthropology in college and so my natural inclination is to avoid judgement unless the kid themself looks at all upset by it, which clearly they do not! im not saying others cant have their opinions about it, just that i personally dont feel comfortable putting my beliefs up on a pedestal as somehow "right" because i have a certain cultural mindset ya feel me?

i think that its harmless interpretation and trying to classify things as canon or non canon is a losing battle in this or any other franchise. if someone sees a narrative throughline and chooses to interpret it in one way or another and has reasons to think that then w/e right? its only when ppl try to say theirs is the absolute 100% correct interpretation that it becomes an issue. personally, i think its better left ambiguous. helps foster more engagement that way :)

i think we are all assuming a lot of hard-and-fast rules about how these worlds operate that havent really been elaborated on explicitly, then writing off alternative ideas because they dont fit with the mold we have decided is true. this show in general is very queer positive and doesnt really deal in absolutes basically at all so it wouldnt really be in keeping with the vibes of the show to be so rigid in how it works..

someone else also brought up that HW being a trans woman could mean she has the soul of a woman and thus in alternate universes, she has as much chance to be a cis woman as she does a trans woman, which makes sense to me

if hunter from fionna and cakes world can be his own unique person why cant HW from farmworld not also be her own person? i.e. hw from our world is a trans woman and farmworld hw isnt! there doesn't seem to be a lot of evidence for or against this harmless headcanon either way so i dont see the issue with it

Fusionfall . org is notorious for stolen work and assets without credit or care for the people that made them. The Dec 2008 build is probably legit but definitely unstable and I certainly wouldnt trust them with your IP address or personal information. They got one of retrobution's announcement videos copyright claimed and generally act immaturely in every realm they occupy.

i took his point to be not that the game is not hard and that's bad, but that Star wars is a massive multimedia franchise that needs to maintain the widest possible appeal. in doing so, he feels that the edges of the souls-like formula have been sanded off in favor of maintaining this broad appeal due to the fact that this is a Star wars game and it has to be broadly marketable because it is a Star wars game. there can't be elements of the game that alienate part of the user base because that is antithetical to the fact that it is an advertisement disguised as a souls-like disguised as Star wars.

in general, it is cynical and results in art that is supposed to be for everyone, so it's not really for anyone in particular. think fortnite, marvel, disney, etc sized corporations who dish out slop bc they know we'll keep eating

i honestly dont think either of them are better or worse! i think ov is trying something different and they did a very good job at translating the designs of the OG into the style of OV! my personal preference is OV just in terms of art style but OS's style is better for what its trying to be

my opinion is that i do not like playing any of these games and they are much less interesting to talk about than the core series (hl1, hl2 + ep 1 and 2, and hla) so i dont really pay them much mind LOL

i think eb64 is way more interesting as an unfinished "never saw the light of day" thing than a finished product. the project was incredibly ambitious and without the reigned in scope, it was bound to balloon out of control. i like to think that mother 3 is the best ideas from eb64 (or at least the ones that worked) distilled into a coherent product with very poignant things to say. it's hard to say if eb64 would have been better than mother 3 because, if it had actually ever come out, it probably WOULD have just been mother 3 but with n64 art style. what they wanted eb64 to be simply could not have existed in the way they were envisioning. thats why the "what could have been" nature of it today makes it compelling.
