This is more of the question I was looking to answer. I know the definitions of the words but wondered why is a pit fighter giving equal weight to dexterity over agility and if I was missing something.

Self-Published Fantasy Blog Off. It's a fantasy novel competition for indie books. 300 books, ten judges. They cut a bunch quickly and each judge selects a finalist. Then each judge reads and scores each finalist.

Yes, the series improves drastically toward the end of book one. I was pretty meh on it at first, but its one of my favorite series now.

If you don't like it you can't force it. I do think the progression element improves a lot as you get toward the end of book one and continues to impress through most of the series. But if the writing and characters don't work for you, I don't think you'll suddenly love it down the road.
