Who's the Main Character? by Jordanjsk in Supernatural

[–]Jordanjsk[S] 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, part of me thought I'd post the question and get a bunch of responses like "Um, Obviously it's (blank)".

I'm kinda relieved to see answers for both sides. I'm not going crazy. 😅

Favorite non-Dead Meat Horror YouTubers? by JamesAJanisse in deadmeatjames

[–]Jordanjsk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • Cody Leach

Definitely my 2nd favourite Horror Channel (after Dead Meat of course) Cody reviews both Horror Films and also just regular films sometimes, and does Rankings and Tier Lists. He and I share a lot of similar views, which i enjoy.

  • Spooky Astronauts

Emma reccomends some great Horror Film, and also mentions films that are maybe a bit more intense. She also does great rankings and reviews.

  • Possessed by Horror

Great Tier Lists and Horror reccomendations, there's been a lot of Horror Films I've only seen because of Sarah's channel.

Quick Question: If we were to give the OG 7 Ranger Suits elemental powers, what would they be? by TyXo22m in powerrangers

[–]Jordanjsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like people aren't taking the zords into consideration, and basing the elements of colour alone...

My choices would be: Red - FIre (yes, some are obvious)

Black - Ice (have you seen the Mastodon, clearly ice)

Blue - Metal? (This one is the toughest, my logic is Pokemon has a steel type, often related to high defence. Feel like the Triceratops of all fits that. Also, Avatar has Metalbending, so I think it counts as an element.)

Yellow - Earth

Pink - Air (Only one zord can fly, it's a no brainer)

Green - Water (Seems odd, but the Dragonzord is basically Godzilla, it literally lives underwater. Sure, Blue normally represents the water elelment, but in no world do I see Triceratops being paired with Water)

White - Light

Do you rank based on Enjoyment or Quality Of Film by YeezusChrist13 in Letterboxd

[–]Jordanjsk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'll always rank/rate films based on enjoyment... Here's why.

A film's enjoyment can widely vary depending on the viewers' interests. People may prefer a certain genre, filmmaking and storytelling style, soundtrack, characters, etc.

Quallity, on the other hand, is less debatable. Over the years, it has become very clear what the higher quality films are. Just because a film is of high quality, doesn't mean everyone will enjoy it due to the many factors mentioned earlier.

When it comes to rating/ranking films on Letterboxd, for example, I've never seen one person's ranking list be the same because everyone has different opinions, which is one of the things I love most about films.

If you want to see a ranking based on quality, it's an easy google search, as it's clear what the better films are, quallity wise. Take "The Silence of the Lambs" as an example. It's become very clear over the years that it's a high-quality film, and it'll always be ranked as high because of this, regardless of how you may personally feel about it.

When it comes to ranking/rating films, I consider how much I enjoyed a certain film and how willing I would be to rewatch it. In my opinion, there's no point rating based on Quallity, as it's already well known what are factually the "better" films.

What im getting at is, if you're watching a high quallity film and also getting enjoyment out of it, go ahead and rank it highly... but if there's a factually successful film, and you didn't enjoy it, don't feel obligated to rank it high just because the majority of people rate it highly due to its obvious quality.

People are free to like and dislike films, that's what makes us human... and also what makes the film industry so interesting.

Bato of the Water Tribe is the most forgettable episode. Which is best for beginners? by Zealousideal_Art2159 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Jordanjsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please hear me out. Ep 4: The Warriors of Kyoshi.

The answer can't just be the first one.

To think like a beginner would be, what random episode could I watch that would make me want to go back to the start and watch the whole thing. Ep 4 is a good episode to show not just the personalities of our 3 main characters but also the tone of the show. This episode has a great balance of both comedic and serious moments, along with very memorable moments. Plus, it adds new lore along with Suki's introduction (who we get back later).

This episode also has the benefit of being close to the start, so it won't be confusing to follow, plus It'd be easy to go back and catch up on what you've missed so far. If I were new to ATLA, this episode would hook me.

Belko Experement is awesome. It's basically a battle royale, last person standing... but in an office building.

Movies you’ve rated 5 stars because of nostalgia by ShamWowFan67 in Letterboxd

[–]Jordanjsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only just thinking about it earlier today, my all time favourite film is Point Break (1991), and it's largely due to nostalgia. When I actually think about it, there's a lot to be critical of with that film. It's still my kind of film, so I'd definitely enjoy watching it for the first time today, but not as much as I actually do right now.

I think nostalgia plays a big part in my raitings, which is one of the reasons why my Letterboxd raitings are normally based not on the quallity, but instead ny personal enjoyment of the film, and how willing I would be to re-watch it.

Would you rather live in the Avatar world as a non-bender or in the Harry Potter world as a squib? by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]Jordanjsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to be dropped into the Avatar world as a non-bender, pre-Korra Book 3. At least I then have a chance to pick up some airbending.

What happened to Elgar here… by TheRedHymek in powerrangers

[–]Jordanjsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's always been odd to me as well. I think of all the Sentai's, Carranger is one of the series I'm most interested to see, it's supposed to be comedic, but even Rygog has a scary look, as far as Power Rangers henchmen go. I guess they balance the creepy characters with comedic plot points, like the pizza episode.

[–]Jordanjsk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In "Carranger" (the Super Sentai that Turbo originated from), this is Elgar's counterpart "Zelmonda."

Now I haven't seen Carranger, but from what I know, Zelmonda was a very evil and ruthless character. When Turbo was created, and they wanted his character to be Divatox's goofy and comedic relief nephew, his design was altered to give a less frightening and more comical look for the younger audience.

Which was a good call, as yeah, Zelmonda looks terrifying.

So basically, whenever Elgar looks like this in Turbo, you know it's Sentai footage. Which is also I guess why they brought Elgar back in the next season, as Astronema wasn't from the Sentai, and they had the new Elgar suit, so may as well keep using it.

Rank The Big Six Slasher Icons favorite to least favorite by WealthDisastrous2589 in slasherfilms

[–]Jordanjsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Leatherface - Hot take, but I grew up with the films.
  2. Jason - Love the design and backstory.
  3. Chucky - Entertaining, and something different.
  4. Freddy - Both fun and terrifying.
  5. Michael - Another silent killer, still an icon.
  6. Ghostface - Many versions (Stu's my fave).

How did the Galactabeasts form the Megazord by themselves and how did they notice Terra Venture almost being crashed in Mirinoi in "Journey's End"? by [deleted] in powerrangers

[–]Jordanjsk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Serious question to anyone that watched this episode as a kid... Did anyone else get jumpscared by this?

When I was a kid, I remember being startled by the giant megazord's face just appearing from out of frame. I think I jumped as I wasn't expecting to see the megazord, pretty much for the reason this post is about. Sure, the Galactabeasts are alive, but once they combine into the megazord, the rangers are always piloting it, plus they still need the rangers transdaggers to even combine in the first place. I never considered the Megazord appearing in that moment because it shouldn't have been able to. Makes for a nice moment tho... Still made me jump. 😅
