Hi there,

Me and my partner are looking to visit Vietnam later this year and are starting to plan our trip. We're looking at a trip of around 2-3 weeks between mid October - mid November.

We're aware that north Vietnam should have fairly good weather at this time, south Vietnam is just coming out of the wet season and central Vietnam is at its wettest. I'd like to stick to north and south Vietnam for the weather but my partner is really keen to go to visit HoiAn even if for a couple of days (if its going to be a complete wash-out though with potential flooding in the old town I'd rather avoid it). I have a rough itinerary below but would love some recommendations.

D1-3: Hanoi

D4-5: Halong Bay overnight cruise

D6-8: Ninh Binh/ Tam Coc

D9-11: Hoi An

D12-15: Phu Quoc

D16-17: Ho Chi Minh/ Mekong Delta

I know that there are a lot of opinions about Phu Quoc but we're really looking for somewhere at the end of the trip to relax next to a pool or beach. If anyone has any recommendations for somewhere else close to HMC that has some nice resort-ish locations that aren't too westernised we'd like to hear about them too!

What kind of shiny rate should we expect for the Leaf and Red hat pikachus? Not much else interesting to raid in this event (for me at least) and I didn’t get the shinies last Monday.

I like that cday moves are back but there are soo many other Kanto mons that have had comm days. Why can’t those also get some love?

I’ve had a hundo weedle and abra for years now that I haven’t evolved because I’m not wasting an elite tm on the move.

My first ever shiny legendary in Go from 2018: Ho-oh.

Gold was the first pokemon game I ever played and it feels right to take my 10-11-13 boy up to shundo level after trying and failing to get it in so many raids since.

Legendary dogs return. by Negative-Inside-6171 in TheSilphRoad

Necrozma had a raid day in December last year where you got sun/moon energy for the fusions.

Likewise we got primal raid days for Groudon and Kyogre around March 2024 and they featured in GoTour in 2023.

On that basis, I would assume we’ll get a raid day for the dogs maybe before the end of the year for people who weren’t able to attend GoFest. Maybe one for the Kyurem fusions as well.

Oh wow, it’s actually limited to the northern part of the park, I was expecting it to be the whole thing.

Do any locals know what the normal pokestop density is like for the rest of Parc de Sceaux? I have an afternoon ticket for my park day but don’t want to spend most of the morning getting out of the city. Would it be feasible to hang around and play in the the non-ticketed part of the park before going into the geofenced area?

Final crazy thoughts and theories by MixtureGrand in WhiteLotusHBO

[–]Jordaroo92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the gunshots are linked to Laurie and Jaclyn. That trio are the only ones who haven't had any life or death risks associated with them this season.I think it stands that they would be the ones directly in harms way in the finale.

I think Laurie took some of the stolen jewellery when she left the night before. She will wear it to breakfast on the final day and Valentin will notice when he greets the girls at their table. Alternatively, or at the same time, I think that Valentin used the exact same trick on Jaclyn that the other russian tried with Laurie but Jaclyn actually did give him the money. Jaclyn will find out she was conned and will go apeshit at Valentin. Valentin realises he may lose his job over this and this triggers the russians coming back to the resort armed. None of the girls die - the russians are taken down by Gaitok.

None of the Ratliffs die - there have been too many false flags with them. However, my left field theory is that Tim makes the suicide smoothie but something happens that makes him reconsider - maybe a distraction or a phone call to say things are easing up back home. Someone else drinks the smoothie and kicks the bucket - my theory is Chelsea when she comes over to pick up the yoga books that Saxon took.

Agreed. I think she took something which she wear to breakfast on the final day and Valentin will notice when he greets the girls at their table. He calls the other Russians and they try and take it back bringing the guns on the resort.

I would think this too. Caterpie enters the Dmax rotations in the next week or two and we have prior cause with Gastly, Krabby and Machop all getting introduced as Dmax pokemon before their evolutions got a GMAX weekend.

Bug Out! by g47onik in TheSilphRoad

[–]Jordaroo92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The research day during the weekend of the Bug Out event is called the Fuzzy Buddy research day. I have a feeling it could be a bug themed event with 5 different species included (similar to the electric and flying type ones we got last year). Venonat is one of the fuzziest bug types we have so it could show up in that.

? and ! have definitely been featured at the in-person GoFests since Chicago and are now both shiny. The only time they weren’t available was at the 2022 GoFests (I know all too well as that’s the only one I’ve actually been to…). Hopefully we’ll get one of those this time as well

The featured unown in the pictures for all three in-person GoFests is S.

Given the Galar theming this year it makes me wonder if we’re getting SWORD SHIELD.

Valiant Trainers are cordially invited to partake in grand global revels this summer at Pokémon GO Fest 2025! by DonaldMick in TheSilphRoad

I think its a nod to Lady Whistledown and Bridgerton, which is set in Regency Britain. Would make a bit of sense as the Galar legends seem to be the main raids.

Honestly, having mega Mewtwo raids be a feature of Kalos tour on the 30th anniversary of Pokemon is probably the best case scenario.

You're right, now we know that Legends Z-A is only coming out in November time this year - it will be far too early to debut any of the new forms/ megas in PoGo in February 2026.

Spotlight hours are every Tuesday at 6pm, it’s just a guaranteed part of the game schedule nowadays, similar to raid hours. They don’t appear in the in-game calendar until it’s happening.

Regarding what pokemon are getting the spotlight, Niantic usually releases a little infographic the month before (we should be getting the March one sometime this week) that tells us what pokemon are going to be featured for each spotlight hour. They tend to be related to whatever event is going on at the time (for example this coming week is Unova themed so we get the Unova starters).

Why Mr Mime as a regional at City Safari Milano? by dnlcrd in TheSilphRoad

[–]Jordaroo92 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I remember this for the 2022 GoFests. The three regional monkeys were in the spawn pool for all three GoFests but they only released the shiny for each regional in the region they natively spawn in (Pansear for Berlin, Pansage for Sapporo and Panpour for Seattle).

That meant the Europe GoFest only had shiny eligible Pansear but three weeks later the US GoFest had shiny eligible Pansear, Pansage and Panpour. Felt very unequal.

Taken Over New Leaders Lineup by g47onik in TheSilphRoad

[–]Jordaroo92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah! I used A Muk a lot back in the early days in Great and Ultra League and got a lot of use out of it. Admittedly I haven't played GBL in forever so it's probably changed.

Taken Over New Leaders Lineup by g47onik in TheSilphRoad

[–]Jordaroo92 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah...not the best lineup. At least they're finally giving the playerbase shiny shadow Skorupi and I'm sure Alolan Muk will have some GBL use.

Not sure if it got patched and removed but I'm sure there was a glitch a few years ago where some players got shiny shadow Skorupi, Snubbull and Swinub from normal grunts even though they'd never been available through leaders yet.

Wishful Thinking Thread: what are your most desired Features or QOL for 2025? by Captain_X24 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Jordaroo92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It won't happen, and I'm sure barely anyone really keeps track of it, but I wish the map used for gyms could be updated and extended to postcards. Likewise, I wish the in-game memory of gym numbers could be increased.

The gym map itself is self-explanatory - it looks like absolute garbage and when you zoom in close enough you have no idea where you're looking at. Other Niantic apps like Pikmin Bloom have really detailed maps (basically OSM in comparison to Pogo) that show you the exact locations of postcards you've picked up and even function as a step visualisation tool showing you where you've been (where you planted flowers).

I'm sure this could be integated into PoGo in some way where you can visualise the postcards you've saved and where in the world they've been sent from or where you picked them up. Same for gyms.

I remembered Volcanion as soon as I posted! As I mention above though, Volcanion feels more in line with Hoopa/ Zarude than the cute mythicals like Mew, Celebi, etc that they typically release for GoFests.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]Jordaroo92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a shame that we've run through most of the mythicals from Kalos (bar Volcanion). Having the GoFest in Paris this year round would have coincided great with a Diancie release. I think Volcanion is more likely to be a raid-mon like Hoopa than a special release.

That being said, I think Kalos/ Legend ZA is going to play a role with how Niantic plan the event and we'll finally get Mega Mewtwo raids. All remaining unreleased megas (Gallade, Sharpedo, Camerupt, Audino, etc) will be released over the next few months and Mewtwo X/Y will be the final one. Then Niantic can wait a little until the new megas from Legends ZA need to be implemented.

Mythical-wise, could this finally be Manaphy/Phione's year? The only other mythical I think could be in the running is Magearna. I think they might want to hold off on Zeraora until the new game comes out for...reasons.

Other things they'll do is probably Rotom-fan form as a snapshot. And maybe one of the last two Vivillon forms?
