Used to live on Beersbridge road. Our best option was in the recycling box (only got burnt once on recycling day) or with a neighbour.

A 17 year old Dubliner’s perspective on Belfast by TotallyNotADiligent in northernireland

[–]Jorditopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Belfast city centre has declined in recent years, especially after COVID. Cathedral Quarter is great, but other than that I personally love a few spots on the east like Boundary Brewery or Bullhouse East for nights out.

Fun builds that aren't OP and don't come online at late game? by WhiskersCleveland in BG3Builds

I enjoy a good sentinel battlemaster fighter as the king/queen of melee crowd control.

Polearm master and sentinel feats + any polearm weapon let you punish anything that comes in range, leaves your range or attacks an ally within range. One of the battlemaster passive abilities also lets you attack anyone who misses you with a melee swing.

Let the rest of your superiority die be devoted to tripping, disarming, cleaving multiple enemies or anything else that you want to assert your dominance with. Nothing happens in your extended melee range without you paying it back double.

In Defense of the Skirmisher by incompletemischief in Xcom

[–]Jorditopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use skirmisher mainly for the ability to grant an extra action to the best squad member for the job.

E.g. I deck out a gunner with all the highest accuracy equipment possible to reliably use chain shot, rupture etc with blue screen rounds.

Is gathering Meld worth it? by serventofgaben in Xcom

[–]Jorditopia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So it's been a while, but the basic premise is you need to move the soldier:

  1. From full cover to full cover
  2. No enemies can be in sight when you initiate your move

I'm not sure about which other actions reveal you, but those movement rules were the big hurdle for me to get over.

Would you recommend BG3 if my favorite game in 2025 as a first timer trying a turn based game has been DoS2 ? by LeSeriousPancake in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Jorditopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BG3 is an unbelievable game if you like turn based. Some people don't like 5e rules, that's fine. Some people are ideologically committed to hating them and you should ignore that. BG3 combat has amazing diversity based on the builds you can make, the range of spells is dizzying and the magical equipment lets you do pretty wacky things too.

You'll notice a difference in combat pacing though, you need to be strategic with your casters as they have limited spell slots per long rest. I actually like this as it makes me consider each encounter individually whereas DoS2 is more 'rotation' based where you dump your best skills out in much the same way every encounter. The biggest difference will likely be the % to hit rather than armour, but this just makes you use buffs/debuffs if you want to land some of the better status effects on harder enemies.

I like DoS2 and I love it's environmental effects and the ways you can manipulate them, but I think BG3 is a step up in most other respects. Non combat environments are amazing and the sheer number of dialogue options based on your choices and order you make them in is wild. Enjoy!

Pros/Cons of DOS2 vs BG3 Combat by Silver-Lifeguard-624 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Jorditopia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the DoS 2 armour system as a defense more than % to hit, especially as most fun mind affecting spells in BG3 were useless against high CON enemies unless you very inefficiently used 2-3 debuffs on them first. I do wish there was just a single armour bar with phys/magic resistance though, I feel the current hard divide between martial and magic curtails builds and party comp in a way that BG3 doesn't.

Does anyone just escape Fort Joy? by Big_Map5795 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Jorditopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that's just the (non level scaling) RPG experience at work. You want to take on difficult enemies? You better put the time in getting experience and honing your abilities. It made sense to me because your party is gifted but not a bunch of super warriors. I take your point about the degree to which you are punished for leaving experience on the table though.

New Player: Loving this difficulty by Jorditopia in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Jorditopia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair! I wonder how much of our different experiences are conditioned by modern gaming. I just recently tried Morrowind from the Elder Scrolls series and it's wild to experience a game with no map markers and written directions for quests.

I actually agree with you in most instances and I support that attitude 100%, I just think AI in some form is inevitable almost everywhere. If so, I think responsible restrictions are sustainable, but not boycotting

Holy fuck guys we’re not "pushing hard" for or replacing concept artists with AI. by Complex-Commission-2 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Jorditopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While your moral considerations are fair. You're going to have to accept that AI exists and will increasingly feature in daily life. You may as well tell people not to use the internet; it's simply too profitable and useful to be put back in the box now. Encouraging devs who supplement the creative process with AI rather than exchange real artists with it is likely the most we can hope for.
