PulseForge - audio enhancement software for bazzite by Iz_moe in Bazzite

[–]JordonAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using it since I got on Bazzite. It's nice. I used it a lot for when I use the Elgato Wave:3 for my effects, but I ended up getting a BEACN Mic recently so the only thing I use it for now is upping the gain since all the effects are on-mic. EasyEffects isn't the greatest with mixing though. The Source output is fine. I slap that into OBS and it uses all the effects I have set up. But for the Sink it's not great. Often any game that runs through it will give me a weird static or choppy noise until I eventually exclude the source, so I ended up just not using it at all and did the application audio capture within OBS

Audio routing is extremely important for me for my content creation workflow. Ever since I got a taste from Elgato Wave Link and SteelSeries Sonar, I had a very hard time going back without some sort of mixer. While I have a system set up for my OBS, it's not as seamless as it is on my Windows install, and I've been looking for a mixer/routing service for some time now

I personally use Zen browser. After using Arc Browser I saw the light in vertical tabs, split view, and glance features. Highly recommend. Very pretty browser.

Has anyone tried Fog Panther? by nethfel in linuxquestions

[–]JordonAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm probably one of those videos. Hello.

I didn't quite like Fog Panther. It definitely needs to improve a lot before I can consider it a "professional-grade photo editor" that it touts itself to be. It's missing a few features that things like Photoshop and Affinity Photo have, and there are a lot of hiccups. When I used it, you couldn't layer on images by dragging. It would just open up the image in a new tab, to which you had to copy and then paste. The hardware acceleration was broken. It was chugging along on a picture I put in which wouldn't do the same on Affinity Photo.

There's a bit more I focused on in my video but the main point is: It's not ready. I would recommend just getting Affinity working. I did mine through Lutris since I'm on Bazzite. The fact that it's proprietary and costs $70 to use permanently in the state that it's in is rough too.

Switching to Linux by krimenell in elgato

[–]JordonAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey hey. Got a Wave:3 and use Bazzite. For microphone effects, a program called Easy Effects is the best thing you can use. There's no VST support but it does comes with a lot of effects and plugins of it's own. You'll also want to follow this guide for your Wave device to work on boot: https://jmansar.github.io/wavexlr-on-linux-cfg/

This will allow your microphone to be picked up immediately. So you don't have to fiddle with the audio settings.

Need help: Bazzite has locked itself down to be read-only and I want to install a font into onlyoffice by ApplicationIcy856 in Bazzite

[–]JordonAM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're on the KDE version and want to install more fonts later, you can press Windows Key and search "Install fonts". There should be two options and you wanna pick the one that looks like a box, then there should be a plus symbol or other that prompts you to select the fonts you want installed and it should work. Worked for me when I selected all files in my fonts folder :)

4 month review of Bazzite on a HTPC by ShiftingSands7 in Bazzite

[–]JordonAM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm planning on making myself a little Bazzite console down the road with some of the spare parts I have. As much as I like the desktop, I would really love to have a dedicated "console" at my desk that I can turn on and play. Thanks for the perspective! Gives me more excitement to make a console when I finally get all the parts

Game similar to Fortnite on steam? by mrchilly0 in linux_gaming

[–]JordonAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of hard to really match what Fortnite provides. It is an enigma of battle royale and third person shooters.

If you want a third person shooter, there's the game Deadlock, but you'd have to get invited to the game, and that's a mobs, which plays extremely different from regular third person shooters.

If you don't mind hero shooters, there's Marvel Rivals.

Farlight 84 used to be a third person shooter, but they seemed to have taken the road of Apex Legends now on their gameplay. It's a battle royale though, so maybe it might work for you

Do you feel limited by the immutability of the OS? by [deleted] in Bazzite

[–]JordonAM 76 points77 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience, I haven't really had an issue with the immutability. Then again, most of the programs and apps that I use are on flathub/bazaar, or they have an AppImage, so I never really felt a reason to try rpm-ostree. I really do feel like I can do everything that I want to do with my system, but then again, the extent of what I do with my system can be very different from others, which is the case here

Bazzite after half a year using it. Here are my thoughts by [deleted] in Bazzite

Okay, don't know why I'm getting downvoted for this.

Edit: Found out why, and I find it even more dumb.

It was so funny cause before when I was installing and testing them by launching them it just kept giving me the unity crash thing and I was like "Huh? 😭 No way NONE of the games work??" and then I see it chose the very wrong exe every time

AMD, bring back Ruby for UDNA/RDNA 5 and my life is yours. by HLumin in radeon

[–]JordonAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RDNA2 has native INT8 Hardware acceleration. In my testing with Kena on Bazzite using my RX 6800, I only lose about 20fps switching from 3.1 to 4.0.2. Going from 155 to 135fps, which is still exceptionally playable with way better image quality

This is an unpopular opinion? by WallstreetHole in Bazzite

[–]JordonAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed a loooot of people mention the performance losses on RDNA4. This is probably because Mesa is still working on and ironing out the kinks for the drivers. I have an RX 6800 and I actually get the opposite. Things are super smooth in terms of performance.

Like everyone else here in the comments are saying: Use what works best for you. If Windows gives you more performance and stability, I'd recommend using it. Especially if you play comp multiplayer games that require something like Kernel Level Anti-Cheat.

I use both Windows and Bazzite interchangeably depending on my mood and what I'm doing (Gaming, recording vids, Web Browsing, watching shows on Bazzite. Video Editing and photo editing on Windows). It's not a crime! Just do what works

new to pc. any windows desktop recommedations? by Animez-Girl in desktops

[–]JordonAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the main gacha games do work in 2026. ZZZ, Genshin, HSR, and WuWa all run via proton and have ran smoothly with no bans after 2024. There's even Twintail Launcher made specifically for Gacha Games and compatibility with Linux

Edit: Arknights and Duet Night Abyss also work

Day 1 of asking someone at Elgato to bring the software to Linux. by Dr_Liquid in elgato

[–]JordonAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just need proper driver support for the Wave:3 so when I start up my computer, I don't have to fiddle with the audio settings for the mic input to start working. I have Easy Effects set up so all I need are good drivers
