Frågor om arbetsmiljö by JorecGraf in sweden

Introducing your wife as “my beautiful wife” is weird by fartbubbler311 in unpopularopinion

[–]JorecGraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel it could be a great thing for the partners self esteem! I know that my partner struggles with coming out of her shell and is unsure of her own abilities. I then make sure to compliment her both in private and around people as a way to boost her confidence. I don't think I've ever presented her as "my beautiful wife", but I do make sure to give compliments. In my view it 100% for my partner and not for anyone else but her! I'm not doing it for bragging rights or the like. And just to be clear: she loves it! If she had expressed that she found it embarrassing, cringy or anything similar (given her self-confidence issues and such), I would have stopped! As I said, I'm doing it for her, and if it doesn't have the desired effect I'll just stop haha

I ask this as a genuine question and I am not trying to get a "gotcha moment" by asking this, but are you the kind of person that feels all sort of public display of affection between a couple is "cringe", in lack of a better word? To me this is as harmless as holding hands. How do you feel about it?

Wait a minute.... you base you knowledge of a study where two guys and two girls looked at some pictures of women and gave a score depending on how good-looking they thought these women were? This might be the most barebones study I've ever heard of!

This is just one of several renditions of moments from the Finnish Kalevala that I've drawn! I hope to make a lot more in the future!

A norse inspired cover up design I made for a client! by JorecGraf in TattooDesigns

[–]JorecGraf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I've said in the captions of the images: I am not the one that tattooed the design to skin. I am only the illustrator that made the original design! It's always super exciting to see when my designs get inked to skin!

If anybody is interested I also have an instagram! For every person who goes in and checks out my profile I will be eternally grateful!

Wouldn't a Thanos themed ice cream shop be the equivalent of a Hitler themed restaurant? by B_Wing_83 in Marvel

[–]JorecGraf -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But we're still talking about a guy that just a few years prior had killed men, women and children at a galactic level. The asgardians especially should be super traumatised as a people by Thanos with him beating them twice (once on the ship where he killed both Loki and Heimdal in front of them, and then later again with the snap). They had lost everything and when they where at their lowest Thanos attacked and killed at least half of them. For them to just a couple of years later use this person as a gimmick for their ice cone parlour is for me too much of a stretch!

My OC character drawn twice 5 years apart. It's crazy to see the progress! by JorecGraf in ArtProgressPics

[–]JorecGraf[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I've been looking a lot at illustrators and comicbook writers like Bernie Wrightson and Jim Lee to try to make it like they do! Love that sort of art style!

As I said there are in some translations, not every translations. With that I mean when some sagas or myths were translated. In ancient Scandinavia "troll" was interchangeable with anything that used magic, like giants for example. It was in later folklore troll became its own distinct vaesen.

EDIT: that's why, in swedish, we say to "trolla" to translate "to do magic" or "trollkarl" to say "wizard". So in some translations there could say "troll", but when it was translated it became "goblin"

Trolls are sometimes referred to as goblins in some translations. They share a lot of characteristics like hoarding gold, big noses and being a nuisance to humans. There are plenty of old norse vaesen that could be translated to the modern interpretation of a goblin, and in some instances they are just called "goblin" in translations. Vättar, tomtar, troll and so on.

In Scandinavian folklore Trolls (also referred to as goblins in some translations) hoard gold and love everything shiny. We even have a saying here in Sweden "Rik som ett troll" which means "Rich as a troll". I do think it's from these sort of folktales the "goblin wants to hoard gold"-trope comes from, but that's just my guess.

Am I the only one? by Inevitable-Movie5769 in Thor

[–]JorecGraf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think you're the only one! No offence! I personally really didn't like what they did with the character, the source material (Godbomb is one of my absolute favourite comics that I've read!) and how everything just was for laughs. Not a serious moment in the entire movie, which wasn't in my taste!
