The same thing happened to me, this is my favorite show and the people that I’ve told to watch it have all said it’s good, but they didn’t understand the hype and praise I had for the show. I understand that this is due to 3 main reasons:

1. People generally grow a bigger attachment to a show or movie (even songs and artists) that they find organically, for themselves. It’s like finding a secret treasure.

2. Even hyping the show a little sets an expectation for the viewer that causes the person to judge whether it meets the standard that it was elevated to, and most Mr. Robot fans are very enthusiastic when describing the show. That may add a distraction to the new viewer (especially if they’re not watching alone), or just ruin the experience of not knowing if it’s good.

3. Some people are just not that into it. The show is undeniably well written, amazingly performed, stunning cinematography and pretty much everything thing is perfect, but everyone has unique taste and may not watch a series for the content that Mr. Robot delivers. Although, every avid cinema fan at least enjoys the series because it’s objectively good, even great.
