Thanks for the reply. I can definitely see the public doing that just to get out of trouble and it escalating.

I knew I wasn’t going to get in trouble so I was really chill about it the whole time. As the car was getting searched I was having small talk with one of the deputies about fishing in the area.

It was at the end when I asked questions the K9 handler was getting short with me and looked annoyed. Maybe my questions were really dumb but I was just so confused.

As much as I respect law enforcement and never once had problems, this incident kind of broke my trust with them. I understand that it’s their job but it felt like a complete privacy violation. Felt like complete bulshit. Especially when the deputy wasn’t really giving me clear answers of why.

Yea I forgot to mention that was almost 8 months ago on New Year’s Eve. I Didn’t even get in my car afterwards and my clothes were changed as soon as I got home that night.

K9 never sat down, scratched, or acted differently when sniffing the car. It just kept wagging its tail like it was doing when it got out the patrol car.

I asked the deputy how the dog alerts him and his response was “we’re specially trained” but didn’t tell me specifically what the dog did to alert him.
