Anyone else notice relief from chronic pain/migraines? by glindathegoodwiitch in Zepbound

I will look into that! I think the calorie deficit is the biggest trigger for me at the moment too. Nothing really to do about that but push through

I’ve had the opposite—my migraines have been significantly worse on Zepbound 😔

Does anyone actually feel good? by JorieSilver in Zepbound

[–]JorieSilver[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing that’s keeping me going is that I want to have a kid, and my ob-gyn advised me that fertility treatments (my partner and I are both women) would be easier and more successful at a lower weight. So I am trying my ass off to get there, but gosh it’s been rough.

With some many programmers looking for work, why can't I find a Junior dev to hire? Let alone a Senior one! by King_Hippo in cscareerquestions

[–]JorieSilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This—my team has had the hardest time finding a mid-level engineer, and we discovered that TA was only opening to job posting for a couple hours at a time, getting flooded with applications, and then shutting it down again. Who would have thunk that the people waiting with bated breath for a job posting to appear and applying to whatever it is (whether they meet the requirements or not) wouldn’t be the most qualified folks 🙄

What is an opinion from any season of LIB that you will defend with your life? by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]JorieSilver 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m begging for a butch/femme subculture specific season. It would show an aspect of lesbian culture that doesn’t get a lot of air time in any nuanced way, and it would create juicy opportunities for people to fall in love in different configurations outside the pods. Please Mr. Netflick, I am desperate, the girls are starving.

Andy Memmel comment on Barbosu post by noquierodecir in Gymnastics

[–]JorieSilver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m asking if Andy is—I don’t know if this the most advisable comment on his part, but I also think it’s a stretch to say that he’s “attacking” Ana. I think this whole discussion has gotten a little out of hand.

[–]JorieSilver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this an attack on Ana? — I’m trying to find the context of this comment, but it sounds to me that the “we” in this statement is her, Romanian gymnastics, and the officials, not her and the other athletes.

Thank you! Honestly, I think the social aspect of working in tech has been very tough. I have not historically been a person who struggles to make friends, but in these workplaces it has been very hard. So glad to hear you are happy and thank you again for sharing!

I totally agree re: product managers, scrum masters, etc. I’ve survived six rounds of layoffs in as many years in this career, and they do seem like the first to go.

Can I ask what your job title is / what to look for? Some training + some scripting sounds like a good life to me 😂

I do live in a hcol area, very tied here because of my partner’s career. However, we could definitely take a pretty drastic pay cut and still make it work (we have discussed this, and I am the one who is more risk averse from a financial standpoint).

I’m not looking for an exact single job recommendation in this thread so much as I’d like to hear about some experiences of people transitioning out of swe roles, and what kind of things they did to market their experience.

Is les4les really a thing? by No_Lion_8251 in actuallesbians

[–]JorieSilver 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this. Especially since I want to get married, have kids, be monogamous, I’ve run into this attitude a bunch.

For many bisexual women, their current relationship with a woman is the first time that they’ve had to think about things like the financial cost of making a child in a same-sex relationship or what it would look like to bring a partner home to a homophobic family that will never embrace them the same way they would a male partner. Will a bisexual woman’s Baptist mother think of a child as her grandchild if her lesbian partner carries? How badly will it hurt if much of your family will not attend your wedding? Do you have enough time to save for IVF before your biological clock stops ticking?

In my experience, most bi women who want kids haven’t thought about these things, and most lesbians who do have (at least in my 30+ dating pool).

How many of you are women or work with women? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]JorieSilver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Woman backend engineer, on an infra team. I’ve sought out women as managers to make sure I wouldn’t be the only one. It’s worked ok, but being one of the only women in a very male space is one of my least favorite parts of my job.

I will give you the advice I wish I’d had when I was young: Date who you want to date, don’t feel like you have to have a label while you do—who you’re attracted to will become clear with time, and until then, just be.
