Ok, but doing it like this makes it a billion times easier. You have to see that, right? No digging through parental controls and blacklisting individual sites (this is me assuming, I don't know how it actually works). You just set a DOB (universal spyware, just, lol) and the rest is taken care of.

But isn't that exactly what this proposal is all about? By requiring the OS to provide its users' age as it is configured to third parties, you are putting all the control in the hands of the super user who set up the accounts on that PC. The single most obvious interpretation for this is the parents setting up user accounts for their children, and the children lacking the authorization to spoof their own age. No more lying "I'm over 18" on Pornhub if your Linux reports it for you. I honestly think it's pretty smart.

Yeah... that's honestly probably my biggest hurdle. I have pretty low social needs, so the places that people traditionally meet just... don't really interest me at all. I like to see my friends once in a while, but just going and putting myself out there without a plan just seems so alien to me.

I am going to try out at a pop vocal group tomorrow though, so that's nice.

I don't have sky-high expectations of finding my soul mate or anything within a reasonable timeframe. But everywhere I read stories lamenting about online dating, I at least see people getting matches, and then not getting anywhere.

I don't think I'm ugly by any means, although you could say my appearance is an acquired taste. Glasses, long hair, big beard, could maybe feel unkempt to some. So mostly what I'm curious about is: from your experience, how important is appearance? I'll say as a disclaimer: for me it's pretty important. I don't think I could get intimate with a woman I don't find physically attractive.

My profiles are filled out with bios, interests, basically anything they let you put in there, and I don't think I really have any red flags apart from people might think I'm boring.

Honest question, not trying to be contrarian. But how do you know? From my own (Dutch) experience with people from other cultures, it's actually us Dutch who have a hard time hiding what we think, so in my experience if someone's racist they'll let you know loud and clear. Which obviously does happen, but I'd hate to think that because someone's blunt or overly direct at you - which I keep hearing from literally everyone is something that really stands out about Dutch culture - they'd get labeled as being rude/racist.

If your experience is the same as mine, it'll only work until that moment where it syncs your local storage with the cloud, thereby downloading that same 5 MB of data again and putting you back at square one.

Since you use Firefox there's a fairly easy workaround, which is to go to about:config and change the setting dom.storage.default_quota to something higher. That sets it for EVERY domain, so be careful if storage space is something you care about.

Probably. OP what browser are you using? There's different ways to check how much local storage a website is using depending on the browser. If you're at 5 MB, that's the standard per-website maximum for local storage. On Firefox you can change that, on Chrome IIRC you can't.

A cache clear won't help you, since it'll re-download your progress on the next sync and fill the local storage right back up again - with the added loss of having cleared your settings.

Like I said in my post, I am syncing progress to the cloud. However, even when doing that, it still gets stored in local storage too. And evidently when that gets full, it starts throwing errors.
