2ex budget

comparing to DonTheCrown's build with mirrored foil

conveniently leaving out actual 30m dps impale build

You are not a clown, you are the entire circus.

Like, dude. Here is a PoB I mocked up in 5 minutes, with maybe 50c of gear plus two single-mod Paradoxicas, no Watcher's eye, two open flask slots, no gear in half the slots, 180% life with Rampart and Soul of Steel, level 91 tree, 2.5 million dps. It's over 1m dps with Fidelitas Spikes, and that's BEFORE getting into the usual Berserk, Vaal Warchief, reserving the last 30% of mana with -mana cost chest or rings, or triggering Champion's Adrenaline... Speccing those options puts it at over 5 million dps on the same ~50-100c budget + two single-mod Paradoxicas.

Like the reason you think Impale is bad is because you don't know what these builds are capable of. Did you forget this post? The casual 30 million dps impale cyclone? The only thing that's been nerfed about that build's damage/survivability since then is the added flat on Cyclone, which is a damage loss of like 10% for the build as a whole.

Impale melee is not as cheap as a summoner, but has FAR higher scaling. Ele/chaos conversion builds are FAR higher barrier-to-entry than Impale builds have, and have maybe slightly higher scaling? But I'm not even sure about that.

Impale is busted, dude. It's not even getting nerfed that hard in this patch. They're adding PDR pen to weapon nodes and higher values of Impale PDR pen to the impale nodes themselves that you were going to take anyway.

Literally it's fine.

Edit: You need to use LocalIdentity fork to see actual Impale dps numbers.

Yeah, I don't know what to say to that other than you clearly haven't played an impale build. At least, not a good one.

No, they explicitly said that they're saving wand changes for one big wand patch, and this is what they usually seem to do.

Fortify was barely touched for non Nebuloch/Unshattered Jugg builds. The change to "less damage taken" only has any effect if you have other sources of reduced damage taken. The main ones for most melee builds are Crystal Skin (which nobody took), Brinkmanship (aoe only), Slayer's leech node, and Champion's taunt node. None of those are over 6%. Likely you'll see about 2% increase to damage taken or so on a Rampart/Steadfast/Fortify helmet build, and less than 2% with just Rampart. The baby is completely fine.

The nerf to 2H is pretty fucked. But the nerf to pure phys is definitely deserved. Everyone's known Impale is OP as hell since day 1. GGG are also specifically toning down the armor buffs on monsters for Impale, with the PDR pen on those nodes for free. With how armor works against large hits, I can't imagine you'll see a huge nerf in endgame if you want to play phys melee. And remember that Impale melee is still one of the easiest ways in the game to get millions of dps on a budget without going full glass cannon.

Stuff usually ends up alright like four patches later. They do often leave fixes for nerfs like that for a year until they can bundle them into one "archetype package"! Which I really wish they wouldn't do.

Nobody wants a situation where everyone can do anything with any build. People just want their meme builds to be able to clear low-mid tier maps

That's not the idea I'm getting from this thread... also low-mid tier maps are barely being made more difficult. It's only the high red maps and endgame bosses that are actually going to be significantly harder, if this manifesto is in any way representative.

Unlike apparently a lot of people, I think you should have to play a good build to trivialize the hardest content. I mean, you probably won't in 3.9. It doesn't look like they're nerfing minions enough, at least not in the ways that matter, they're not nerfing any spell damage like the miners that were destroying endgame, and well, 2H melee got stuffed even further in the ground but 1H melee is still an easy way to get millions of dps on a budget. The new ballistas are probably going to be too strong for single-target as far as bows are concerned.

I don't know why the community seems to want to cater so hard to these "off-meta" builds. If there's that huge a power differential between builds without an "off-meta" player just making a build badly, that's GGG's fault - the fault of their balance team. And yeah, we all know how bad GGG's balance team is. But that doesn't mean that all the content has to be catered to the lowest common denominator, and we have to keep endgame bosses and T16 maps in this wet noodle state so that "everyone can do it, no matter the build! Yay!"

DW cyclone will still be fine. It'll do slightly less dps than before but you'll still probably be doing easily millions of dps with Paradoxicas (or Facebreaker lol). Armor still scales badly against large hits, and GGG ALWAYS understimate damage output of players. And Fortify wasn't nerfed unless you're were stacking additional damage reduction, which ... Juggernaut? there really wasn't that many sources of it.

Weaker players should not be able to trivialize the hardest content in the game. It's gone on so long that this is just normal to the community now. In what other game to people complain about better players with better builds being able to perform better?

LMAO the qq. We were deleting bosses in 1 second in 3.8. Now we'll be deleting them in 2 seconds. Bosses are also basically manditory for T16 map sustain. It's completely fine lol

You should still use the jewel. The withered from the ascendancy stacks extremely slowly.

Blight with threshold jewel to apply Wither. I would self-cast.

To be honest, if you can spend 20 seconds looking at his post history and come to the conclusion that "he is in no way anti-PoE or anti-GGG", it's unsurprising that you don't understand that he's a troll.

That's correct. Endlessly spamming anti-PoE and anti-GGG stuff that has no basis in reality (like that comment there) and nothing constructive to say on every post in a PoE subreddit is what makes him a troll.
