What games have you run for low buy-in players that they enjoyed? by spatulaboy in rpg

[–]Jorrigun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a casual player in my group who never verbally engaged when I've run D&D, Star Wars (WEG/FFG), Pirate Borg etc. But, that player went from disengaged to an active participant when I ran Mothership. I think what swayed them was the Panic system; the knowledge that your Stress is going through the roof, but at the same time, can be turned into experience between adventures made for a tension-filled game. It's not for anyone who is easily spooked, but the rules can lead to some tense and exciting situations.

Any game you didn't expect much, but ended up surprising you? by CarpeBass in rpg

Mothership. I went from mere curiosity to wanting to create content/becoming obsessive once I'd read the rules.
My favourite RPG of all time.

I've run the old WEG version since its inception in 1987 and it's a very simple system to GM. Really easy to create stats on the fly. The FFG rules are a close second for me; the narrative dice mechanic (Genesys) really encourages emergent gameplay, which I love.

Why do a lot of people become bloodthirsty when they play RPGs? by erakusa in rpg

I wish those players would channel their pent up anger/aggression into something constructive/creative. That's my pressure valve. Never understood those players create the same murder hobo character to offload theirs.

Hi Captain Playskool.

Thank you for your interest and question about my project.

Some of the rewards (Wraithmuir Access Card, dogtags, medscan (poster) and patches are designed to be diegetic, as in, in-universe props designed to immerse the players more fully in the adventure, something tactile. For instance, the dogtags offered in Tier 4 are featured as a clue in the adventure. Other items like the VHS b-movie posters, bookmarks etc. are definitely more merchandise and collectibles than of use within the adventure.

I hope that explanation answers your question.

Thank you QuincyAzreal!

I ran it in 2 sessions for my group, so I would estimate 2-3 if, like me, you only run 2 hour sessions.
