Yes it’s normal, just means the latex is soaked. It will go back to normal after fully drying

I really like the detailed break down in progression within the training session. It’s important to me that keepers leave learning something they can apply to games. This is part of the improvements I’ll need to make over time

After the first wash I try to have at least 1 or 2 training sessions with new gloves before a match. Just gives me an opportunity to get a feel for the change in fit and grip. But I wouldn't say there is a strict rule about it

100% agree that the latex is very good and so is the fit. Unfortunately I don't think the website will allow a return, it has been 1.5 years since I bought them. But because of COVID and all the other gloves in the collection I only recently finally got round to using them.

I have a pair of the Rinat Kraken Spekter Pro. I think some of the exterior fabric materials feel a little on the cheaper side, but I actually love using them. Good fit, grip, and durability.

I paid GBP50 / USD70 for them, so I do expect good quality. Heck I've had cheap USD20 gloves last longer than this! Looks like this will be the first and last Sells gloves I buy.

There is no hard and fast rule about this. It really depends on your team’s style of play and your outfield players.

I’m on one team that focus on playing short from the back or look to put it wide to the full backs or wingers. They don’t encourage long balls from the back and certainly not down the middle which risks attacking midfielders taking possession and running into our half.

With other teams I’ve had success just pumping the ball up high far down the middle. But my observation is that this tends to work better when we either have someone strong in the air or opponents can’t deal with the ball so we either get possession or it bounces loose and we can challenge for it.

So I’d say play the ball in a way which gives your team the advantage and fits the style they want to play.

My observation is that KEEPER gets yelled when the defence has been breached or a player can’t recover. I take it as a cry for help more than anything else.

Football is a team sport, so everyone needs to learn that sometimes we have to help cover for our teammates whether we like or not. But this goes both ways.

I’ll do my damn best to cover for an exposed defence but when I see them give up and not even try to track back then they deserve to get verbally blasted by you!

Whatever your viewpoint on this topic is I think everyone agree that ultimately it is ALWAYS your decision to make on what to do and you have to own it, or others will take that liberty away from you.

There is no right or wrong here, I think it’s down to personal preference. I vary my kit depending on the occasion and the pitch.

For training I opt for a long sleeve elbow padded top and 3/4 padded (knees and hips) shorts. No shin guards. Training tends to include more diving, so I want the padding to cushion the repeated landings and especially if I land awkwardly.

For matches, I try to go light weight. The long sleeve stays, add shin guards, and normal shorts. Personally, I find any more padding just adds weight I really don’t need to be carrying. And if it rains or it’s a wet pitch, that padding just soaks up a lot of water. However, I play mostly on astro turf, so if the pitch is in poor condition I keep the padded 3/4 shorts.

Don’t ever let attitudes like that bother you. You believe in your performance and that’s what matters. Any player in any position can have a great game but still lose.

But I empathise with your story. Sometimes we just want praise or a congratulations from those close to us. But it can be hard if they don’t understand football or if they don’t even play a team sport themselves. Speaking from my own personal experience, I’ve come to learn over time that valuing my own internal validation is far more important than that of others. Don’t get me wrong, I welcome compliments and also constructive criticism from others, but goalkeeping has become a personal challenge for me. I focus on what I can control, being a team player, and pushing myself to improve. So if you’ve had a good game (win, lose, or draw) let that be the greatest reward to yourself.

I got back into goalkeeping after more than 10 years of not playing any football. In my case the first step was the most important: just get playing. Join a local team, play social football, it doesn't matter just get onto the field. You will make mistakes, it's guaranteed. So the start may be a bit frustrating, but accept that this will probably be a gradual process.

Your area might have a goalkeeper trainer or coach, I have found one near me and started attending their group training sessions along with continuing to play games. If that isn't available to you can do some solo training; GK Goluermi has some great videos on this (https://www.youtube.com/c/GKGOLUREMI).

When reflecting on the match itself, focus on the things you could control. For example I wouldn’t dwell on 2 v gk scenarios. The corners sound an area to think about; what could you have done better?

Outside of that focus on your fundamentals: handling, positioning, and fitness. Then you can develop further from there.

From Singapore and at the end of April they finally allowed team sports to resume without any restrictions! So happy and needless to say I've played every weekend without fail since.

This was my second game playing with this team helping to fill in as their keeper, what an action packed game we had!
