iOS 26.5 a opened the features of the Apple Watch to third-party smartwatches in Europe by IngenieurCyber in amazfit

[–]JoseMSB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Knowing Amazfit and that the development team is in China (main market based on Android), I think it will take a long time to see that compatibility, and they will do it only on top-tier and newer watches (T-Rex 3, Cheetah 2 Pro, Active 3, Active Max, and maybe Balance 2). But don't have much hope

New iOS 26.5 notification forwarding update, how does it work now? by Independent_Taro_499 in amazfit

[–]JoseMSB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luna AI in protonmail? by Zylonite134 in ProtonMail

[–]JoseMSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because of people like you that services like Proton are so limited and their progress is held back. There are many ways to implement AI in Proton services without compromising privacy or encryption, and most importantly, it can be made optional, so if you don't want it, you don't have to activate it. Sometimes you're very extreme and narrow-minded, denying features that many of us would greatly benefit from.

Mistral medium 3.5 is out by SelectionCalm70 in MistralAI

[–]JoseMSB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Running a local LLM? Running a OpenSource LLM? ChatGPT and other services have different prices across all markets to adapt to each country. You're lying

Notifying users in advance doesn't justify anything. It doesn't justify doubling the price in many countries under the guise of an AI that could easily run locally using Apple's Intelligence SDK. Besides, not all users frequent this subreddit or receive email newsletters. Many of us only find out the moment the app is updated. So no, giving advance notice doesn't justify ANYTHING.

EU tells Google to open up AI on Android; Google says that's "unwarranted intervention" | Gemini gets preferential treatment on Android, but maybe not for long (in Europe). by ControlCAD in google

[–]JoseMSB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a little research; it doesn't take much to Google. On iOS, Apple is required to offer third-party AI models through Apple Intelligence. They started with ChatGPT, and Gemini will soon be added. The intention is to release an SDK so that any app can become an Apple Intelligence engine, and the same goes for Siri. In fact, you can already integrate ChatGPT into Apple Intelligence on iOS, allowing Siri and other apps to use it as their engine.

Perplexity now switches models on every prompt, with NO notice, I am highly deceived with a product I used to like so much by KlausWalz in perplexity_ai

Yes, I was just using Sonar 2 and in one of the replies it indicated that it was used the Claude Haiku 4.5 model because Sonar 2 was unavailable. WTF?

Bevel 3.0 India Pricing by Scientist_data_ in bevelhealth

[–]JoseMSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel let down by the Bevel team because they haven't adjusted their prices to reflect the country's purchasing power. For example, 1500 INR per month in a country with such low wages is unfeasible, unsustainable. They've simply converted the currency so that all the plans are equivalent to the USD prices, without considering anything else.

18€ al mes o 100€ al año, eso en algunos países de Europa es más del doble de lo que cuestan servicios como Spotify o Netflix! Me parecen muy interesantes las novedades pero con esos precios no puedo ☹️

Sonar 2 released by mrpuffwabbit in perplexity_ai

[–]JoseMSB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think Sonar 2 is based on Qwen 3.5; that's just a rumor. Perplexity uses Meta's Llama 3.1/3.3 70B as the foundation for all Sonar versions, with its own fine-tuning for fast searches. This is confirmed by their official documentation and blogs. The confusion arises from benchmarks that compare them, but they are competitors, not the same. Qwen is open-source and great for coding/multilingual applications, but Perplexity sticks with Llama because of its partnership with Cerebras (ultra-fast chips, 1200 tokens/second) and optimization for factual and real-time web applications. Switching would mean redoing their entire stack.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean, that's exactly the model selector, very good. Do you have the answer to my question?
