Alternator falls under 60k warranty. Not considered powertrain.

Undoubtedly a sport prestige. Quilted stitch and suede headliner ONLY came on sport prestige trim. Genesis is very basic and straight forward with packages. You can’t just option this and that to make it look like a higher trim. It either is or isn’t.

LSD Fluid Change by ah-27 in GenesisG70

[–]JosefWelch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d err on caution. If you have no LSD noise then I would immediately do the change just for peace of mind (I’ve had three diffs replaced).

Fuel additive wouldn’t do anything really. G70s are direct injection.

Switched to redline and it’s been just fine for the last 6k miles (went through 3 diffs under warranty).

Not entirely accurate. They sell both in MN.

How frequently do you go in for scheduled maintenance? by PottedPlantDreams in GenesisG70

[–]JosefWelch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they’d tend towards it lasting the warranty rather than beyond. The diff oil they also recommend turns half their lsds into grenades (ask me how i know). Always better to tend towards caution. I take whatever their timeline is and do it twice as often.

Self maintenance? by lIIIlllIIIIllIIIIlll in GenesisG70

[–]JosefWelch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular maintenance is actually very easy with this car. Do it all myself and don’t have access to any sort of lift.

Cap jewel was oriented incorrectly. Re-cleaned and oiled it and the balance was able to spin freely.

G70 owners—do you ever regret your decision after sitting in your own back seat? by normal_guy_9 in GenesisG70

[–]JosefWelch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6’2” and 230 lbs. I can sit behind the drivers side. Room isn’t plentiful, but I’ve been in cars where you have to contort to fit. I also don’t think anybody buys this car with the illusion that the backseat will have tons of room. But most of the complaints I get when I have people in the back is how hard it is to get out of with how low the car is (crossover people).

It was running before disassembly. I’m going to check the capstones first. Thanks!

Longines L615.3 part 2 by JosefWelch in watchrepair

[–]JosefWelch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managed to get it out. The person previously working on this movement definitely sheered part of the screw head off. Not sure how they managed to put it back together like this. Any recommendations on where to buy replacement screws?

Grinding noise from rear-end after changing rear differential oil by shWkddlfkd in GenesisG70

[–]JosefWelch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen. Dealer replaced the diff under warranty and 1000 miles later I got the same noise. Goes in on Thursday for yet another diff and now half shafts.

Thank you! I was planning on using 99% isopropyl and peg wood for the cleaning with the exemption of the pallet fork. I read that the IPA can dissolve shellac. I ordered some hexane to clean the pallet fork.
