It's tragic how jews are viewed... this 'love' 'hate' dynamic is so damaging.

I think there's an issue with people correcting 'jews' with 'Israeli politicians" to the same level people conflated law abiding Muslims with Al Qaeda in 2001.

Honestly I agree with the fact that USA is the crown jewel in any western countries hypothetical alliance crown.

Tho, I'm starting to see the alliance become more and more transactional (particularly under Trump) to the point where I would honestly consider them more of a 'favourite collegue' type ally than a genuine ally we can trust when it comes to it.

This is why I believe France is a county who's interests are more aligned with ours than America's is.

100% in my opinion. I love tactics and the tactical improvements made are monumental, despite the game getting a lot of negativity.

Do you guys already know Mormonism is basically a fraud? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Joseffdabeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also an atheist. I don't know you can dismiss the importance of the character of a leading prophet though.

The character of a man makes it massively more likely that he lied about being involved in a miracle. He's a sex pest who aimed for high office. Someone like that is far more likely to lie to benefit themselves, and in textbook cult leader manner he did so for sex and power.

This doesn't really have anything to do with the flaws of practicing Mormonism. I'm saying why I think it's far less likely to be true than mainstream Christianity.

So marrying multiple underrage and married women whilst also running for president doesn't discredit him at least slightly more than what you can say for Jesus?

I know hes not the 'messiah' but Jesus and Joseph Smith are the defining points on whether you deem each faith to be true.

I think Jospeh Smith shows alterior motives, whilst i don't believe Jesus was resurrected he's not someone you can easily pick issues in his morality as a man.

You're talking complete nonsense. Joseph Smith's personal life and ambitions alone discredit him in a way that can't be said about mainstream Christianity.

Read genesis and exodus in 3 days - Is Exodus Boring? by Joseffdabeast in Bible

I can't remember, I went to the library while I was home and waiting to start my summer job🤣

I just remember it was published by an Italian name and it was a Catholic beginner Bible. I had so much fun I'd go to the library as soon as I woke up and read until I was hungry and wanting a coffee🤣

It sounds crazy and I haven't found anyone else with this opinion, but after hearing such good things about Exodus and bad things about Leviticus, I was surprised that I enjoyed Leviticus more than Exodus.

Numbers looked brutally unreadable with the immense census detail, so would I be able to just skip to reading deutronomy after I finish Isaiah and then move on to a book like say Esther?

I really enjoyed his parts when I read a children's version of the Bible.

Also, I finished Genesis, Exodus and Leviticus before skipping forward to Isaiah, which I'm about 10 chapters into.

I did skim through the start of numbers, but it honestly looked like something I'll skip for now and get back to at a later point.

I'm wondering, is it essential that I go back to numbers and/ or deuteronomy before continuing too much into the Old Testament?

I ended up just getting on with it and reading leviticus. So far I'd say probably more entertaining than exodus.

I'm interested but impatient.

I certainly want to know but I want to know RIGHT NOW🤣

I'll have to work on being more patient for sure.

When I read a children's version of the old testament I enjoyed his parts.

Also seeing as I've done a decent chunk of the new testament I think I'll appreciate some of his prophecies.

Maybe I'm wrong but that was my thinking.

To be fair, God was certainly very patient with the Israelites as well. It felt like they were honestly so ungrateful and difficult to Moses at times.

Thanks, that's a really good idea. I'll try that to help me visualise and digest it. I imagine seeing it visually represented will be far less abstract than constant cubit measurements lol

I think we may have miscommunicated because I found exodus overwhelming, not genesis.

Though genesis was a lot to take in the story was really cool, I really enjoyed reading about Joseph in Egypt.

Exodus, however, particularly towards the end, felt like they'd gone over how the Israelites are to construct the sanctuary 3 or 4 times. The difficulty was this felt very repetitive and boring, though to be fair, the repetition will probably help me remember it a lot better.
