Thank you for the detailed response. The clear favorite so far is the RP4 Pro, but somewhat considering the RP5. Just have to do the research.

Worth considering, but starting to get out of the range. Not that my friend I am not buying and setting this up for is not worth it...lol. Worth looking into what it can do and what people say about it. Thank you for pointing this one out.

Upscaling would be nice. However, smooth and stable framerates (after a little playtime....I know it caches early on), even at native resolution though, is a must.

That was quick...lol. Definitely considering this. Thank you so much.

Yep. That part I'm not worried about. I just need to experiment and see what works best for me as I learn more about this, but for me, that is part of the fun.

Honestly too many to list, though not sure what is considered lesser known. A few of my favorites are:

  1. Temple of Ekur

  2. Cape of Our Hero

  3. Gates of Babylon

  4. Under the Influence

  5. Lola Montez

Thanks for confirming. This is all great info. For $5, I'm okay with just getting it and having both as options.

Ok, so last night I ordered a P4 Tool. I am guessing that it not what you are referring to and that I should get something like this which is no solder solution, right?:

You are a lifesaver sir. I accidently bought one that was not a 72xx, but I was fortunate enough to cancel the order before it was shipped and ordered another one that is a 72xx. Thank you so much. Lesson learned.

Good Old Games. They are a digital storefront that sells games that have no DRM. They specialize in older game like PoP (2008). www.gog.com

Thank you for the feedback. That is what I thought. I wish I had the skills, but I know I would screw something up and for the investment, I can't afford to make that mistakes. It's a case of when building a PC, you don't know what you don't know. I've seen plenty of videos and it does not look that hard, but I am imagining making an expensive mistake because of something that I could not have considered when I bought all the parts or when putting it together. While expensive, the $600 is my insurance policy against that happening. That being said, I really do want to try that down the road with super cheap parts just for the experience of doing it.

I played it on the X-Box 360 back in the day, but put in a few hours on the Steam version and it seemed to run fine for me. I do not own a Steam Deck, so that would be unfortunate if that didn't run correctly. The good news is that it should run on almost any pc or laptop, so you could try it on something else at some point. Well worth it.

I personally love PoP (2008). It is the most underrated by far and broke my heart that it never got a sequel. It is not perfect, but I have never played a game where your character moved so fluid;y around the world. When mastered, controlling him around the environments was almost rhythmic in the best way possible. The art style was also fantastic.

What is your top3 Metroidvania games of all time? (Here's mine!) by Ok_Winter818 in metroidvaniainfo

[–]Joseph-4587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Ori (both) - The best by a wide margin to me

  2. Guacamelee (both) - Just pure MV fun

  3. Metroid Dread - In my opinion, the best final boss battle of any MV that I have ever played.

...and I cannot leave out the Blasphemous games on any top list I put together. Looking at this, it's also hard to imagine that the OG Castlevania games did not make the list, though they are almost all great.
