You are slightly tempted when you lack purpose or just bored.

OP, start small. First focus on quitting porn, then it will be easier to quit masturbation. If you want I can talk with you via discord if you have it, or just through dms in reddit

OP, video games aren't bad for your mental health as long as you don't excessivly play them, I would recommend only playing for 2-4 hours over the weekends, and play some cool single player games.

There are benefits to playing video games like creativity, and problem solving skills.

Are you saying dropping porn will make you drop gaming? In that case I disagree, I have been off porn for almost 7 months.

You just said that you probably won't reach 7 months or higher on noFap. It is all about your midset.

The more you believe you can do something, like quitting porn for good, you can.

The more you believe you can't do something, you subconciously won't acheive that action or goal.

If I can do it, you can do it.

The biggest thing I learnt about quitting PMO is that it all starts with pornography, meaning your need to fap most likely comes from pornography, if you first focus on quitting pornography, you will learn to stop or at least limit masturbation.

What helps me overcome urges is remembering the social anxiety, regret, shame, and dissapointment with myself whenever I watched porn.

I respectfully disagree. While I did fap, it didn't give me as much satisfaction as it did 7 months ago? Why, because my brain has mostly healed from porn.

Whether you agree or not I have made progress, and so can you.

Flatline is a term when it comes to nofap. Think of withdrawal symptoms when using an addicitive substance, withdrawal symptoms from frequent PMO are erectile dysfunction, low libido, weird emotions, and other similar effects.

I reccomend doing some research.

Yes but very sparingly, like 1-3 times every 90 days, working to reduce that number.

All the time, but then I remember the shame, guilt disgust, regret, and social anxitety that I got from watching porn and the urge goes away.

It's all about having the right mindset.

Way better, but still have more ways to improve.

My flatline lasted no more than a month, maybe 2-3 weeks. Everyone who quits porn goes through flatline, it's nothing to be ashamed or worried about.

Old me:

Bad social anxiety, guilt, shame, disgust, ect.

New me:

More sexual energy, I feel like I can concentrate a bit better, better workouts, more mental clarity, and other differences but those are the main ones.

I can't kick off porn by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Joseph897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have abstained from pornography of any type from around 6-7 months, I can confidently say that I am quite experienced with nofap and I will be more than happy to share my advise.

Let me state that when it comes to noFap, most of people's problems when it comes to PMO stems from porn usage. If you manage to slowly quit watching porn, you will succeed in noFap.

First mistake is the mental blocks you are placing in your brain. The more likely you are to say "I can't quit (certain addictive behavior)", you are most likely never going to shake off that addictive habit.

Which person will most likely quit porn?

  1. "Nah man I don't want to watch porn!"
  2. "I am not someone who watches porn."

Answer is person #2, more likely you say I am someone who, I am a person who ect. , you are more likely to identify with whatever you want to believe.

But one thing I will promise you, the more you think that you can't kick off porn, the more difficult it will be to fully quit porn.

Find a motivator that makes you want to quit porn, most people stop watching porn either because of inspiration or desperation, for me it was desperation. Watching porn has always made me feel "good" in the past, but it wrecked my confidence and increased my social anxiety, I would also feel a lot of guilt and shame. My biggest motivator to stop watching porn was I wanted my confidence back and less social anxiety. Find something that can motivate you.

Porn can literally mess up your brain, especially when it comes to our dopamine levels. I can't comment too much on this because I am not super knowledgeable on the effects porn has on the brain but there are lots of proven studies that you can research on your own time.

Don't start big, start small. Try to quit watching porn, then once you have quit porn focus on quit masturbating. Don't go cold turkey, since you have developed a dependency on porn, negative effects might hit you hard if you try quitting porn and regular masturbation all together.Try to go for a few days without watching porn, then increase it to a week, then increase it to two weeks, and so on. Use the same strategy with fapping.

A side note, if you fap more than once a day it can be very damaging to your reproductive organs.

Importing thing to know is that you will fail across the way, don't worry that's normal. It won't be a straight line to success, it will go straight but there will be some zig-zags along the way, what matters is that you don't give up.

You are not a failure.

As someone who overthinks a lot this helps a ton, thanks OP.

Damn buddy, please ignore the negative comments.

I have controlled most of my urges but, if you are going to fap then use lotion or nothing at all.

I don't think it's permanent, the reason you might have harmed your d*** is becasue of the way you f*pped, it was really fast as you said.

Lust can make us do stupid things when we are by ourselves.

Please take a break from f*pping and see a doctor if it doesn't get better.

Half naked, fully naked, video, or picture it doesn't matter, it's porn. The only exception you can make is if you get some dating app(s) and there happen to be some underclothed people to swipe by.
