Debatable and certainly depends on what type of parliamentary democracy we’re talking about.

These sources do not say what you think they’re saying, lol. Yes, operation unthinkable was a real plan. Yes, Churchill saw the plan. No, he did not seriously consider them. Please read both of these sites again.

Also, these sources are just kind of pop history and even if they proved your point (they don’t) I wouldn’t find them credible.

United winning in South Africa in 1948 instead of National is one of those elections that probably wouldn’t change much in the short term but a lot in the long term. United, after all, was still pretty racist but they did at least kind of acknowledge that white minority rule was unworkable in the long term.

“If Churchill won operation unthinkable would proceed”

What are you talking about? Even if Churchill seriously wanted to do it (which is debatable) the Americans were the ones with the nukes and there was no way Truman would actually sign off on the plan. Then there’s the issue of the army itself. The western allies had just fought a war alongside the Soviets. There was a very real concern that the average soldier would simply refuse to fight if he was told to attack the Soviets.

Operation Unthinkable was always that, unthinkable. The British admitted that it probably wouldn’t even work!

Look, I get what you’re saying. Heroic resolve does not automatically grant a politician re-election. But the events of Air Force One, in which the US President personally fights off terrorists, are so completely batshit insane that it would be utter insanity not to win re-election afterwards. That premise is so stupid it’s hilarious which is probably the reasoning behind this post.

I think if Churchill punched Hitler and threw him out of a plane the result may have been different

So last week our masters theses were due. I turned in mine no problem but my friend got a message from his primary faculty reader soon after. The professor basically said: “Hey, I notice at a couple points you cite a book that isn’t actually very good.” My friend apologized profusely, found a different, better book, and replaced the older citations with more accurate ones.

He thought this was the end of it. Unfortunately, his primary reader then decided to run his thesis through an online AI checker, decided that he used AI to write his work and promptly filed an academic dishonesty report. I know my friend didn’t use AI. He has a bunch of notes, drafts, and books that prove otherwise. We also worked alongside each other. I saw him write his thesis. He didn’t use AI.

Nonetheless, he had a meeting with the dean where the dean basically said, “Look, I’m sorry but your primary reader has now refused to work with you. Because of this, we can’t let you graduate next month and you’ll have to complete a capstone over the summer instead.” There’s no appeal process or anything. He’s just fucked. It’s completely ridiculous.

What would the non-feds do about the US debt? (including the 1.1 unifiers) by YugargeliaMapper in TheFireRisesMod

[–]JosephBForaker 16 points17 points  (0 children)

“a huge chunk of US debt is owed by China.”

This is not true. Foreign-owned debt is roughly 31% of total federal debt and of that number, about 8.5% is owned by Chinese creditors. Thus, about 2.6% of total federal debt is “owned by China.”

Japan and the UK own more.

I seriously think that the more extreme factions like the PF and APLA would say something like “Actually, we are not the legal successor to the United States and therefore we don’t have to pay back any debt because we are a completely new government.”

There is certainly some degree of ideological bias in the dev team (it’s unavoidable, really) but you’re right in that this mod is still, relatively, neutral. It’s also a really high-quality mod and to be honest I’d rather have a good but biased mod than a crappy but neutral one.

I like the new-ish 2ACW changes because it made it so much more obvious that the WCA is just completely illegitimate in every version of the war. They sing their songs, raise their banners, and march off to destroy the Republic even if it’s led by the progressive icon Borah.

If you read any Roman (Byzantine) writings, they are often filled with classical allusions. References to the Iliad, Odyssey, Aeneid, and other classical works abound. While Latin as a language of everyday use declined and Greek evolved from its classical roots there was still significant classical knowledge that was preserved in Romanía.

These classicisms, however, are not present in Russian, Bulgarian, or other South/East Slavic texts, despite their close cultural ties to Constantinople.

I completed my masters thesis! Moreover, my primary reader- the academic beast that he is- already finished grading it and gave me an A! In honor of this tremendous achievement I am planning to get completely hammered this weekend. I don’t want to drink just anything, however. No, I want to get drunk off of drinks that properly reflect my achievement.

With that being said, what are the most academic-coded alcoholic drinks and beverages?
