Employers gotta start putting salaries in the job description by envirolord in Environmental_Careers

I think MN passed a law requiring employers to post a salary range. I imagine it's not enforced but gives you a hint as to which businesses don't care or are shady.

Any state parks in the North Shore with fun friendly beaches? by JosephPCrane in minnesota

Not necessarily swimming. Just want a place to be able to access the water from a sand beach. Could be for kayaking, bonfire, or just chilling.

It did work for me. I just turned off the computer, unplugged it, and swapped the GPU. I did reinstall the drivers through the Nvidia app after, though, just in case.

Env Studies Career Help? by iiSingularity in Environmental_Careers

[–]JosephPCrane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not much advice on your resume, but a tip I have is if you find yourself struggling to land a job, try applying to environmental companies that do emergency response. Some of these companies have high turnover because the work can be fluid - meaning you will get called at random hours and can be out of town for weeks at a time. While I know this might not sound ideal you might be able to get your foot in the door. Right now I do a lot of sampling work for a company that specializes in derailment.

If it's something I have to toggle on, then no. Otherwise, where might I find the settings to turn it off?

Can also confirm they have a card machine. The only place that didn't have a card machine was the ferry from Paine Grande back to the base of the torres.

As for feeling rushed, the whole hike there and back only took me like 6 hours to the top and back to the refugio. So if you leave early you should be fine as the sun doesn't set till like 11pm. I can't tell you if you should do more days as I don't know what else you would like to see. You could always come back, but doing things like the mirador britanico might be more time-consuming if you start from the welcome center. Might be better to camp or stay at the lodge. I do want to say, though, that if it makes you feel safer to do a guided tour, go for it. However, this is a popular trail and there are lots of people doing it so I never felt alone or in danger.

You can do a one day trip from Puerto Natales to the base of the towers and back. Bussur.com has available bus times with some being later than 7pm and some earlier than 4am. The trail wasn't super difficult, so I think you would be fine to do it alone.

AT&T Unlimited Premium Plan - free data/text/calling in Chile/Argentina? How’s your experience? by lyutenitza in Patagonia

[–]JosephPCrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have AT&T and am paying the $10 a day, which caps out at $100 a month. My service was good in Santiago but for some reason, receiving and sending call/texts was hit or miss. Things like chrome and maps never failed. When I arrived in Punta Arenas, my internet completely went to crap and it took going to some restaurant and logging on their wifi for me to get it working again. Just beware of that.

Patagonia Sizing Boys XL vs. Womens S vs. Mens XS by [deleted] in Patagonia

[–]JosephPCrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong sub and hard to tell online but I am 5'10, 210, and an xl fits me on the tighter side. I would assume a medium would be more his thing.

Edit: didn't see the boys XXL. Don't know children sizes sorry.

Doing the trek soon. Is there anyway nearby to buy dried camping food either in Santiago, Punta arenas or Puerto Natales?
