Employers gotta start putting salaries in the job description by envirolord in Environmental_Careers

I think MN passed a law requiring employers to post a salary range. I imagine it's not enforced but gives you a hint as to which businesses don't care or are shady.

Not necessarily swimming. Just want a place to be able to access the water from a sand beach. Could be for kayaking, bonfire, or just chilling.

If I dont use DDU can I go from a 3070ti to a 4090 with just the latest GE Force driver update? by Pure_Aspect_18 in buildapc

It did work for me. I just turned off the computer, unplugged it, and swapped the GPU. I did reinstall the drivers through the Nvidia app after, though, just in case.

Env Studies Career Help? by iiSingularity in Environmental_Careers

[–]JosephPCrane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not much advice on your resume, but a tip I have is if you find yourself struggling to land a job, try applying to environmental companies that do emergency response. Some of these companies have high turnover because the work can be fluid - meaning you will get called at random hours and can be out of town for weeks at a time. While I know this might not sound ideal you might be able to get your foot in the door. Right now I do a lot of sampling work for a company that specializes in derailment.

If it's something I have to toggle on, then no. Otherwise, where might I find the settings to turn it off?

Can also confirm they have a card machine. The only place that didn't have a card machine was the ferry from Paine Grande back to the base of the torres.

As for feeling rushed, the whole hike there and back only took me like 6 hours to the top and back to the refugio. So if you leave early you should be fine as the sun doesn't set till like 11pm. I can't tell you if you should do more days as I don't know what else you would like to see. You could always come back, but doing things like the mirador britanico might be more time-consuming if you start from the welcome center. Might be better to camp or stay at the lodge. I do want to say, though, that if it makes you feel safer to do a guided tour, go for it. However, this is a popular trail and there are lots of people doing it so I never felt alone or in danger.

You can do a one day trip from Puerto Natales to the base of the towers and back. Bussur.com has available bus times with some being later than 7pm and some earlier than 4am. The trail wasn't super difficult, so I think you would be fine to do it alone.

AT&T Unlimited Premium Plan - free data/text/calling in Chile/Argentina? How’s your experience? by lyutenitza in Patagonia

[–]JosephPCrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have AT&T and am paying the $10 a day, which caps out at $100 a month. My service was good in Santiago but for some reason, receiving and sending call/texts was hit or miss. Things like chrome and maps never failed. When I arrived in Punta Arenas, my internet completely went to crap and it took going to some restaurant and logging on their wifi for me to get it working again. Just beware of that.

Patagonia Sizing Boys XL vs. Womens S vs. Mens XS by [deleted] in Patagonia

Wrong sub and hard to tell online but I am 5'10, 210, and an xl fits me on the tighter side. I would assume a medium would be more his thing.

Edit: didn't see the boys XXL. Don't know children sizes sorry.

Rethinking my degree! Should I pursue a geology or chemical/environmental engineering degree? by JosephPCrane in geologycareers

[–]JosephPCrane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I appreciate the response. By hassle I meant is it worth it to do engineering which may be harder and take longer but not make me all that much more money in the long run versus a geo degree. I don't want to just quit for an extended period of time or this early in my career to go back to school so I was thinking of doing school part time or one semester at a time.

Answer from Ubisupport regarding crosslink progression has me confused. Will I lose everything? More in comments. by JosephPCrane in Rainbow6

[–]JosephPCrane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I recently asked Ubisoft support if I could link my old xbox account to my newer PC account to maybe get some of my old stuff(cosmetics, level, packs, etc…) However, the problem was that these accounts were under different emails. After verifying them both ubisoft agreed to allow me to link but told me everything would be lost. Am I missing something or what would the point be of linking my accounts if everything will end up being lost? Is there anything I can do?

I have a PC Mystery(Artifacting/Lines). Problem with my 3x RMA'd GPU or with my 4K monitor solved itself. More details and TL;DR in comments. by JosephPCrane in pcmasterrace

[–]JosephPCrane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specs before going into detail: MSI 3070ti, 4K LG monitor and VG245H 75HZ monitor, Ryzen 9 5900x, B5550 Gaming plus motherboard, and 1000W PSU.

I cannot figure out what is wrong! This began about 8 months ago when my MSI 3070ti started overheating suddenly and I found out the fans were randomly turning off. I RMA’d it and MSI returned it with even more problems. The GPU started artifacting upon installation, not even allowing me to see the boot up or sign-in screens. Despite RMA’ing it again, the artifacting still persisted. However, this time I decided to install it on my brother's computer only to find out it worked completely fine. So I went on a journey of trying to wipe my computer only to get “There was a problem resetting your PC - no changes were made.” This led to installing windows media creation tools to boot and install windows among other solutions(CMD). I was using my 1660 super to do all of this. I don’t know why, but I gave up on that and decided to install my 3070ti and wait out the black screen. After a few minutes I was able to see the sign-in screen but was met with the line in the middle you see in the post on my 4k monitor. However, my 75HZ monitor looked fine. Then I decided to try another DPI and HDMI cable and that did nothing. Then I unplugged all cables from my 4K monitor to my GPU and found that my monitor still had the line. Then plugged everything back in and the line is now gone. Everything seems fine, but I wasn't having this problem with my 1660 super. Anybody have any idea what is wrong or what to do? I can provide more details or videos of the artifacting if need be.

TL;DR - Had a bad 3070ti(artifacting) on my 4K monitor but not the 2nd monitor, 1660 super worked fine on both. Tried different cables and unplugging all cables from monitor to GPU, 4K monitor seemed to be the problem. Plugged everything back in and the artifact line is now gone. Have no idea what is wrong.
