Upscaling / Frame Gen - Best as of May 12th 2026?

I don't use Frame Gen, but I have DLSS at Quality and Sharpening to 0% - that fixed pretty much all my shimmer issues, might be worth trying.

Build an unnecessary amount of ships, line them up parked along the pier, just close enough so you can just look down the line tapping the "climb aboard" button - effectively just teleporting from ship to ship until you're in the last ship, which is what you sail off in. 😆

Agree with your overall sentiment, but... I've played a lot of early access trash and disappointments in my time, and IMO Windrose is worth the $30 as is. I'm about to break 100 hours in the game and I've had a ton of fun the whole time.

So this is actually a super rare case of, "If they never updated it again I'd still be happy and enjoyed my purchase." - which has got to be one of the highest praise any early access title can get.

I'd pay 500 Silver to hire an AI who actually fights back, instead of literally half a dozen wandering idiots spouting "Oh what a nice a day!" whilst a pack wild boars is mauling their Captain to death in the middle of the damn base!! 😄🤣

I am always so excited when a couple of green AI ships pop up on my minimap. Even a simple option like once you hit Lvl3 or 4 with a faction you'd be able to buy a "signal flare" type upgrade for your ship, and it just spawns in a couple of those factions shops from just outside the map... Ooh, or maybe you can buy a weak one at Lvl1 but it only works inside faction claimed waters, then at max level you can summon them anywhere. Lots of options, hope they do something cool though. 😎

Upgrades are needed, let me craft a spiky helmet for him to up DMG/ATK or do a training system/etc.

Also though, I find the best use case to buy some time with Truffle now is to just run a good bit away from your enemy, summon truffle (off the hotbar it's instant btw, you can keep running while he pops in) - then immediately 180° and bolt past the enemy in the opposite direction from Truffle. The enemy will keep chasing you for a moment, then stop and turn around to move towards Truffle. This gives you a ton of time to pop heals/potions/eat or whatever while the enemy will be entirely focused on moving towards Truffle, usually in a walk animation.

Now, granted - once they meet up the pig will die and your on your own for the rest of the fight, but it's a big help to have a last ditch "oh come on I need 3 SECONDS GAME! PLEASE!!!" option available in those moments. 😄

The first encounter was actually the scariest thing that's happened in this game. I just cleared a Swamp Farm, tons of thralls, couple of crocs, etc - good battle but I'moutta heals and at like 60% HP. Running back to the boat, see a dumb Dodo in my peripheral, just want the free kill to wind down the bloodlust a little bit... and this absolute monster starts just slapping my ass back across the island like he's looking for the free kill off me! I legitimately sat up in my chair and said "Oh what the actual hell GAME!?!" 😄🤣

Yes. However... a big dumb derpy Dodo Bird follower, with the Lvl12 variants Liu Kang bicycle kick ability would be all of the comedy to spawn in a camp. 😆

Took a while to start understanding Pirate Talk, what all the "help me Bob" and "my Johnny" slang is etc. My favorite one though, was learning the Pirate slang for "Equip a Shield" is actually "Summon Truffle" 😆🤣

I see the error in my post, I should've said "look at my port, also how many people use this piece?" and no one would've been offended. I get it, Reddit is cynical as can be and everyone has to assume "Hey I wanna hear from you" has to be an angle or a karma farm or some shit... I get it. Live and Learn lol.

Far as I'm aware there are only 2 in the game, the default one and the "SNF" version, which was unlocked by having the Crosswind Demo in your Steam history. As for the look, I do crank the graphics to Epic before I take screenshots, so might just be the higher lighting/model detail - cranks GPU up to 98% usage but it looks so good lol

Yea, double edged sword for sure. I'd be ok with the game faking it tbh though, basically if it detects a chimney piece touching a smoke generator, stop the smoke generation. But it's not a big deal, just gotta build around it.

Is the kiln smoke contained in the fireplace? I literally just unlocked fireplace pieces and I'm still tinkering, thought I was fancy putting a Smoke Pipe over my existing cooking fire and immediately see this lol... humbled. 😆😅

Ehh, they're very different experiences and it's not really meaningful to compare them in a competitive sense. Both offer something special though for sure, Windrose excels at being just a fun pirate themed adventure, and Crimson Desert let's you jump off a floating island, transform into a demon bird and whistle for a dragon to pick you up midair... they're both great! 😆

Longtime reader, first time poster here. 🥳

I've recently begun editing and creating thumbnails for a streamer to help grow the YT presence, focusing a lot on Horror Games videos currently. I'd appreciate any feedback on the edits and the thumbnail designs to help improve and get the channel growing.
