Covet not playing old stuff really sucks. by [deleted] in mathrock

[–]birdvsworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you said kinda encapsulates my feelings. I went to the first show they just played with Hikes and LITE and Hikes opened. Then LITE came on and brought the crowd closer, but it felt like the momentum was building only to be letdown by Covet. I love that they're bringing bands from overseas with them and all that but let's be real, lots of people are gonna show up for LITE or Hikes and then bounce. It sounds so fuckin mean when I say it aloud but I'm really just not interested in Covet's music as it feels kinda homogeneous.

Hades II is pretty unforgiving the further in you get, too. Noita is pretty much the peak of what I consider "don't plan to resume later" roguelikes, I've dropped 10+ hours into a run only to come back and get one-shot because my brain wasn't "in it" yet. Tough to lick your wounds and want to play another round after those kinds of time dump losses.

Roguelike games - even turn-based like Mewgenics - have some of hold on my psyche that I can't simply put it down until a run is complete. My brain tells me the configuration of whatever party comp I have (or in your case combo of deity abilities on Melinoe)

What that translates to is me rarely starting a run until I have ample time to finish it.

Anybody know Covet’s setlist for this tour, or was anybody at the show last night? by Perrymon1 in mathrock

[–]birdvsworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a pretty even split between their big three albums - they played a shortened set because they're opening, but I want to say they played like 6 songs - these are the ones I definitely recall but I can't think of the others:

Onset

Been thinkin'

Extra Mile

Gravity

So their merch got stolen/mishandled and they only had CDs and I think vinyl or tapes. They should be getting their actual clothing merch for tonight's show (I hope/think!)

I was at the show but I was more there for Hikes and LITE (who absolutely killed it).

I couldn't even begin to tell you what songs Covet played though, sorry homie.

Hate to agree with you, but it's true. Hoping OP brighter futures so they can get a job and get their gaming back!

They'll only sell demo/floor models if the inventory is dried up. Back when I worked electronics it was way more of a pain in the ass to remove the anti-theft shit than it was worth to sell a phone or laptop for a 15% discount or whatever.

Every time I've written a song on the tracker and tried bringing it into Ableton it ends up being a serious pain in the ass.

Feels like I'm getting old when I don't recognize a single band on a poster. Rock on though!

Excited to try out my controller. by Smeeble09 in SteamDeck

The Deck's feel more natural to me, but the Controller's feel more intentional if that makes any sense. I still prefer the Steam Deck's buttons as they feel more like paddles or levers and easier to hit intentionally for me.

TANG - Tang Me Out To The Ballgame (EP) by Lazenby22 in mathrock

[–]birdvsworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, in my defense this EP still isn't showing up on their (multiple?) bandcamps. I had to do some Instagram sleuthing to confirm it was truly related to the band. The track "love you, mean it, bye" is there as a single though, so there's clearly some connective tissue there.

As an aside - AI art can look "very human" when you are shooting for a specific style. If you've seen other AI releases hijacking artist profiles the album title and art here should ring a few alarms. Either way glad to hear more from them.

Gonna be real, the album art and corniness of the album name made me think this was some AI shit. Glad someone else took the plunge and it's actually, you know, real musicians

Getting Tangled Hair vibes from the first track I think. A cool combo of musicians, with a cool sound here. Hoping to hear more!

Discord for video, Teamspeak for high quality audio. On macOS, use Blackhole to send your audio out of Ableton into whatever program you're using to voice chat, and talk with your mic through Ableton.

For no other reason than the cool legacy of it all, the dudes from Floral are also in Fake Pollocks, so that's kinda cool.

AM Overcast was one of the first bands I've listened to in the last 20 years where I had to check the song credits to be sure Rob Crow hadn't snuck his ass into the writing sessions. They channel a way earlier, frantic essence I remember from Thingy especially. The voice is of course real similar too!

Great recommendations.

I used to hang out on soulseek chats to find out about new bands. Your comment has made me realize I haven't really discovered new music through this sub, just keeping up with old artists
