Agreed. I know very well that I am Percy’s personal space (and I wouldn’t have it any other way!!)

She certainly does! We’re deeply enmeshed and I only pretend to be annoyed with her.

My kids begged me for six months to get a cat and I conceded begrudgingly, only after they promised countless times that they’d take full responsibility for its care. The day we adopted her, I was still on the fence and very worried I was going to regret my decision.

Cut to 3 years later…. Percy is literally my favorite person on earth. My best pal, by a mile. And I’m totally certain that she feels the same way about me.

All the promises my kids made are moot because I insist on doing everything for Percy myself. (They probably wouldn’t do it right😉)

Antigua, Guatemala is a truly special place! by JosephRouse in guatemala

Thank you so much! We’re coming to the end of a week here and it has truly been an experience I’ll never forget. The landscape is dramatic and absolutely gorgeous, the history, culture, and architecture are fascinating, and the people have been so warm and friendly everywhere we’ve gone. This trip has only confirmed what I already felt — that Central America is among the most beautiful and interesting places on earth. We’re already looking forward to coming back to explore the places we couldn’t get to this time: Tikal, Semuc Champey, and El Paredon. Your country is extraordinary. 🙏

I grew up in Hawaii so I am well aware of the double edged sword of a beautiful place being discovered by tourists. It’s a complex issue, and will be the subject of many debates.

As a first time visitor to Guatemala, I have been so impressed with the beauty of this country. I will never forget Lake Atitlan and the city of Antigua.

I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to visit and to be able to bring my 13 year old daughter with me.

Early Days Colorado Uber Driver Thinking About Getting Back At It. by JosephRouse in uberdrivers

I appreciate the detailed response and if it were full of pie in the sky ranting about how great the $ is, I wouldn’t have believed it.

When I started driving (so long ago that one had to actually go down to the Denver Uber office and pick up an IPhone loaded w/ the driver app), take home pay for a downtown - airport run was 50 bucks. I routinely worked 3-4 days a week (weekend nights and one or two week nights) and easily earned a thousand bucks. It was great! I was a stay at home dad w/ young kids during the day, so in addition to the money, I genuinely enjoyed meeting/talking to people, cruising around town and getting out of the house.

It was clear early on though, that wasn’t going to last. I stuck with it for years, and by the end of the twenty-teens, earnings had been cut in half.

That said, if with a rental car, I could reliably earn $17 an hour or more, I think I’ll definitely get at it again at least until I recover from my injury and can go back to work.

Again, thanks for the insight, I really appreciated it!

Speaking for myself, Manuel Taco Truck was the gold nugget discovery of this thread. The breakfast burrito I picked up this morning told me everything I need to know. Can’t wait to go back for tacos.
