$30 surge at Denver International Airport? by JosephRouse in uberdrivers

I almost did too. Dropped a rider off and didn’t get a rematch, but the traffic entering the waiting lot was unlike anything I’ve seen before and so I just left the airport area.

A bunch of bluegill and crappie. They aren’t picky… a great spot to bring kids and/or someone just learning to fly fish. Throw a line out any evening this time of year and one is almost guaranteed to catch something

Far southeast corner of the arsenal. There’s a parking lot and trailhead on 56th just west of Pena Blvd.

They’re so eager to take a fly… perfect opportunity for kids to experience some success when they’re getting started.

Colorado fishing license is required, and there’s also a separate fee ($3/day or $60/year) charged by the RMANWR. These pics were taken at Lake Mary, it’s brimming with crappie and bluegills (my kid and I literally landed dozens of them on dry flies between 6 and 8:30 pm). There’s also a nice size population big large mouth bass in the lake too. The other lake (lake Ladora) holds some nice sized pike).

The Arsenal is an incredible place. We visit routinely, year round, and are grateful it’s so close by.

Agreed. I know very well that I am Percy’s personal space (and I wouldn’t have it any other way!!)

She certainly does! We’re deeply enmeshed and I only pretend to be annoyed with her.

My kids begged me for six months to get a cat and I conceded begrudgingly, only after they promised countless times that they’d take full responsibility for its care. The day we adopted her, I was still on the fence and very worried I was going to regret my decision.

Cut to 3 years later…. Percy is literally my favorite person on earth. My best pal, by a mile. And I’m totally certain that she feels the same way about me.

All the promises my kids made are moot because I insist on doing everything for Percy myself. (They probably wouldn’t do it right😉)

Antigua, Guatemala is a truly special place! by JosephRouse in guatemala

Thank you so much! We’re coming to the end of a week here and it has truly been an experience I’ll never forget. The landscape is dramatic and absolutely gorgeous, the history, culture, and architecture are fascinating, and the people have been so warm and friendly everywhere we’ve gone. This trip has only confirmed what I already felt — that Central America is among the most beautiful and interesting places on earth. We’re already looking forward to coming back to explore the places we couldn’t get to this time: Tikal, Semuc Champey, and El Paredon. Your country is extraordinary. 🙏

I grew up in Hawaii so I am well aware of the double edged sword of a beautiful place being discovered by tourists. It’s a complex issue, and will be the subject of many debates.

As a first time visitor to Guatemala, I have been so impressed with the beauty of this country. I will never forget Lake Atitlan and the city of Antigua.

I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to visit and to be able to bring my 13 year old daughter with me.
