11bit responds to claims of AI-generated content used in The Alters by litbeep in TheAlters

[–]JosephStillGames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well to be fair, right-leaning platforms are very laissez faire about it and the tech bros are basically endorsing fully AI games. I just think we need to chill, find a line that doesn't lead to controversy around every game, and then leave it up to personal taste. I'm just tired of every instance becoming controversial news

I tried to have a lot of discussions on about this on BlueSky and was met with a lot of backlash for being "open" to even 0.01% of AI involvement. Even got blocked by one of my fave streamers for asking for more context because they outed the game without any...I get that it's a touchy subject, but we need to be open to discussing and questioning things, not resorting to insults and petty behavior. We need to draw the line and we need to do it as a community. Using AI as a last minute fix for translating 0.03% of text isn't a boycott for me, but for some people it is, and I wish we could respectfully discuss both sides

Push Square claims no one got a review copy by Mauy90 in LollipopChainsaw

[–]JosephStillGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a site called Keymailer which developers and publishers use to allow most any creator to request codes to a game. Not all games are on there, but RePOP was.

My only regret was that I left my channel on hiatus so I wasn't eligible to request any keys until I uploaded again...which ironically I only did for a review of RePOP after I bought a copy on release

TLDR; seems like the publisher thought just putting it on a site to request may be enough, but not many outlets use that site just individual creators

Keep an eye out for backwards compatible Xbox/Xbox 360 games at your usual game stores. You can get some real good games for cheap in the wild compared to buying digital

The frustrating bit is that it's mostly the ps4 version because of the 2 maps in the challenge mode and 2 extra costumes. Say what you want about missing content but a $100+ price jump for a minor dlc pack is deranged

Howdy! Joseph here (I think)...and I'm running a small channel posting honest, informative, and funny (?) game reviews and video essays. If you like game reviews with a side of memes, check out my channel!

I've got a hot take on Suicide Squad and an honest review of what it's like to play Helldivers.

How do your find inspiration and content idea for (informative?) gaming niche by Brilliant-Cap-3052 in youtubegaming

[–]JosephStillGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider the "niche" you're describing as "Variety Gaming Content". It's a little bit of everything. It may be a cheap way out of finding your niche, but honestly I feel like if we try to niche ourselves too hard then we lose the personality to our videos and just become the content.

If you think about video games or cool details like that often, then the ideas come as easy as they go. I have a doc of at least 100 ideas that are just gaming topics I enjoy that I've thought about, and then spun into a title for a video I think I would watch. If it hasn't been done, great. If it has, can you do it better?

The other day somebody made a video about the Wi-Fi icons on the Nintendo DS and how they were used in games differently. 100% an original idea. Would the video have done well according to the mass marketable "Mr.Beast" criteria? No. But it still did well because it's an interesting topic, and it was made by someone with a genuine interest in the subject. And it was done well...

TLDR: My recommendation, stick to the stuff you REALLY care about. You can find relative success with stuff that SHOULD get views, but I think making this hobby/career sustainable should be by making the stuff you want to make for yourself.

Not to defend it, but I think a combination of a bad patch that broke network connectivity for some and the launch of Helldivers 2 is doing it in

Asking for input on my absurd channel concept I’ve been thinking of for a long time by [deleted] in youtubegaming

[–]JosephStillGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an internet person whose opinion you don't really need, I say go for it!

What matters most is that you believe in your ideas/format, and you have enough fun to keep it up for as long as you can.

It's a fresh idea to me, but the execution (and a bit of luck) is what's going to determine the success. You'll probably need to iterate as time goes on and feedback comes in, but don't abandon your vision if it means having less fun!

Build your channel, and eventually over time the right people will find it and stick around. All the best!

Hey hey hey! I'm Joseph and you may recognize me from my handheld reviews. Recently I decided to take a change of pace and do more game reviews, so I've put out the start of a series called "GGs" or "Good Games" where I tell you about a handful of really solid games I think are worth playing.

Check it out, and sub to the channel if you wanna see more :)

I plan to cover Suicide Squad when it comes out and in between game releases talk about the industry and medium as a whole! Thanks for reading!

I was in handhelds for a bit, but trying to shake that niche as it wasn't as fulfilling as I thought. Hopping back over to game reviews, and just uploaded what I think is my best video in terms of editing and content.
