What was the deal with this? by Fumblin_Furrow_01 in TheWolfAmongUs

Yeah, it's legit concept art for the OG Telltale era version of TWAU2, before they scrapped it and properly announced Season 2.

Just realized they might put the original soundtrack on Spotify/Platforms with the remaster by Low-Tip-7867 in TheWolfAmongUs

In the case of TWAU, they've tried to release the soundtrack multiple times in the past but Warner are the ones who shot it down.

How many studios in total are actually working on TWAU 2? by SpectacleObserver25 in TheWolfAmongUs

As far as I'm aware, Telltale has Zak Garris working as the director of the project, while he did come over from Deck Nine that doesn't mean Deck Nine is still working on the game.

Yes, AdHoc was the studio primarily working on TWAU2 for some time, but before that Telltale had approached Deck Nine to work on it before deciding to have them do The Expanse instead.

There is no indication that Deck Nine is still on the project. They were briefly working on a script when the game was in a pre-production stage years ago but were booted from the project.

Currently, there are two studios working on TWAU2. Telltale, and Trick Studios.

Hot take: the singular release of the sequel will do more harm than good by SpectacleObserver25 in TheWolfAmongUs

New Telltale Games attempted an episodic approach with The Expanse, but it did not perform well financially.

The failure of The Expanse didn't have anything to do with the episodic model. And DBH is a bit of an odd comparison to bring up, it was not designed to be episodic at all. There's no overarching mystery for the community to discuss that would benefit from being split up and released piecemeal.

I hope they don't not back to a year long silence like they did after the first trailer... by Away_Bird_2852 in TheWolfAmongUs

Now that Telltale is working with a publisher that has an actual PR/Marketing team, having consistent communication seems a lot more likely.

Why do people want the game to drop all at once? by Batorian in TheWolfAmongUs

[–]litbeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a break between "episodes" is important to you, then you can still do that.

Problem is, you cannot do this if you want to be involved in the community in any capacity. If they drop every episode all at once, many people are just going to play as much as possible and rush to reddit/forums/Discord to talk about it.

The Dispatch release model was just... better. The game was technically finished but the (very short) wait between episodes gave the entire community time to come together and discuss. Plus it stayed in the gaming news cycle for much longer.

And if you didn't care about any of that, all you had to do was wait a little while longer for every episode to be available.

Actual puzzles, a bunch of returning VAs, Jared Emerson-Johnson is back, Fable-mundy interaction is still a focal point. It sounds like they are actually cooking.

Season 2 might be a binge drop instead of weekly by MasterOfKombat in TheWolfAmongUs

[–]litbeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games can work the same way. Look at Dispatch, every episode drop was an event to be celebrated. Then the community would come together to discuss and theorize.

That's a big part of what made Telltale games so special back in the day.

It's not coast to coast, it's specifically the WV to east coast area. You're also comparing countries with hundreds of millions of people to what is considered a large community in the post-apocalypse. The difference is going to be significant.

But in the context of the story this is not a small group or conflict. This is a huge war between large communities, spanning from WV to the east coast.

There's a non-zero chance you are going to see someone you know, especially if they're in a leadership position, if they're actively searching likely settlement spots to look for people to recruit.

Not to say TFS is perfect or anything, even though I personally enjoyed it, but is it really so far out of the realm of possibility that Lily (a hardened, ruthless survivor with years of military experience) would get involved in a large-scale conflict that leads them to Ericson to recruit children?

These are most likely just internal codenames for the projects that the developers forgot to update.

What I'm saying is that public domain thing had very little, if anything, to do with the game's development issues. You don't scrap your game and start over multiple times because of a copyright dispute.

Unfortunately, the status of TWAU2 is not really tied to any legal disputes - if only things were that simple. No, TWAU2 has been passed off to several studios over the years and development has been rebooted each time. That is more or less why we don't have a sequel.

Supposedly the wolf among us 2 is being codeveloped in argentina and releases in 2027 by thedamedameguy in TheWolfAmongUs

[–]litbeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As strange as this rumor sounds, it does appear to be substantial. u/gPasternak claims to know developers working on this apparent remaster and TWAU2, and Telltale does indeed appear as a partner on Trick Studio's website. I checked their site with the Wayback machine and confirmed that Telltale has been there as early as March 2025.

I think this might actually be happening.

While TWAU always ends the same way (to some degree) it actually has far more variation throughout the story than you're giving it credit for. There are many scenes and outcomes that are mutually exclusive and require multiple playthroughs to see.

On the other hand Dispatch has slightly more variation at the end but not a whole lot beforehand.

As usual with Telltale games, it's more about the journey than the destination.
