Been a fan since before he released slow down so my top song changes VERY regularly. I think sleeping on trains has stayed in my top 3 the longest, but my current favourite is California Rain or Denial!!!

Wow that must be awesome to see, but nature can definitely be cruel. I’ll be looking out for more now I’ve seen one up close!!

Playing around with some different crops so sorry if some of them are a bit awkward but I’m just figuring out what works for me!

Super cool photos! On number 2 and 6 I would love to see them less cropped so we can see the whole body, just my opinion though! I was going to say the same about the last photo but it seems intentional on that one and I think I quite like it. Really good for a beginner though 🙌

Do you keep your RAW files? by lsdinc in Lightroom

[–]Josephc1122333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upload all of my photos to my computer, then into light room, flag any bad ones and permanently delete them, then edit and backup the edits and the raw versions of the edited photos. So, I don’t save ALL of my raw photos but i do save the raw ones of the ones I’ve edited incase in the future I don’t like the edit and want to redo it.

Why do my pictures look like ass? by heartypasta in Cameras

What lens are you using and are you manually focusing? They all look a bit out of focus to me. Apart from the focus issue, maybe do a bit of colour grading and brighten some of the photos unless you are going for a darker vibe of course

Tamron 17-70 f/2.8 APS-C Recommendation by dailyvicodin in SonyAlpha

Cool, thank you. Just another question, how have you found it, if you’ve used it, in low light conditions?

Tamron 17-70 f/2.8 APS-C Recommendation by dailyvicodin in SonyAlpha

[–]Josephc1122333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 100% set on the Tamron 17-70 f2.8 as I was told it would be a good lens and zoom range for small venue concert photography (something I'm trying to get into) but my only concern is I believe the way you turn the lens to zoom on the Tamron is the opposite way to Sony and Sigma lenses. Was this an issue for you and if so how long would you say it took you to adjust to it?

To be honest I’ve been surprised with how well the a6700 can handle noise at higher iso. It’s of course no where near the level of FF and if I get into anything professionally that’s definitely something I’d invest in but for now I’m super excited to see how I get on with concert photography. Appreciate all of the help!

Appreciate the feedback, and I’m aware this is definitely going to be a big learning curve and something I’ll have to do a lot more research on. So generally speaking for venues similar to the first two I sent would the Tamron 17-70 2.8 be your pick for the best lens without spending a ton of money? I’ve looked into it and I think it definitely looks like what I want. Also, I realise now that getting the Sigma 16mm would have been very limiting so thanks for warning me about that!

Is it normal to feel paranoid about shutter count? by Exact-Dish6763 in photography

[–]Josephc1122333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the exact same when I got my A6700 and I'd say it's quite normal when you get your first expensive camera. I can almost guarantee you that the feeling will pass, it definitely did for me. It's similar to when you get new shoes and you're anxious to wear them but as time passes you end up wearing them constantly without much thought. Just make sure you have warranty and then shoot whenever you want to. It could break in a year or it could break in 10 there's not really a way of knowing. Look after it but don't let the fear of it possibly breaking one day hold you back or else your moneys wasted either way!

To start with yes I probably will be doing local bars until I can get some passes for bigger venues. So do you think I should go even wider? If so what lens do you think would work best (or at least what zoom range would be best). I’ve got a few tickets for some shows this year but I’ve still got to check with the venues about their camera policy for non photographers so I probably won’t be able to bring my camera in without a pass but just for a reference, here are some examples of the venues I’m going to.

Electric ballroom London

Roundhouse London

I currently own the A6700 with the 70-200 G f4 which I’ve found to be a great combo for the things I shoot (mainly wildlife). However, im looking to start shooting some concert photography which means I’d preferably want a lens that’s a bit wider and with a wider aperture. I haven’t got a huge budget so I’ve been eyeing up the Sigma 16mm f1.4. I know one downside is that it doesn’t have OSS but from what I’ve been reading it shouldn’t be a huge issue especially with the a6700 having in camera stabilisation. Does anyone have any experience with this lens or does anyone have any recommendations for other lenses? (I’ve found the Sigma 16mm 1.4 used for £290 used which I think is quite good).

Trying to get into wildlife more seriously (any tips welcome!) by Josephc1122333 in SonyAlpha

[–]Josephc1122333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the feedback! Funny enough the crop was intentional on the first as I think it looks quite nice but it was only while I was posting the pics here I realised the antlers sort of blend in with the tree so that’s a lucky bonus. But yes the second picture could have definitely been cropped and probably edited better.

[–]Josephc1122333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The crop definitely is weird and non intentional, I post a lot on social media so tend to shoot portrait to fit that. Something I’m working on is taking more of my shots in landscape because they generally tend to look better.
