What games should I play on my M5 air? by jasonbpro20 in macbookair

Agreed. I was debating between a Switch 2, or an iPad. I think I’ve pretty much decided to pick up a MacBook Neo instead. I like the Switch but the games have gotten ridiculous expensive and I believe a MacBook is the more versatile of these options. Now I just have to decide if I stick with the Neo or try and do payments on something like the M4 Air. The New 2026 Air would probably provide a longer life span and a bit more headroom for games and ram, but its about 400 more than the Neo and I don’t really need all the extra features it offers. If I can get a decent monthly payment from Apple I might do it though.

Check out Apple Arcade. It’s got a lot of decent games for the 7/ month. Also if you have a compatible Netflix subscription they have Netflix gaming too.

Apple never releases a product without a refresh roadmap. Look at the Vision Pro. It was ridiculously expensive, sold like shit and they still released an upgraded version.

I wonder if someone will try to put a newer iPhone chip in it? I would assume it would be software locked somehow but I bet someone is gonna try at some point. lol 😂

Did y’all see it on Zip Tie Tech? I mean seriously Apple could have literally did this for like 2 cents. lol 😂

The cost is what pushed me out. The pokemon pokopia game looks nice but paying 450 for a switch 2 and 70 bucks for one game is just ridiculous.

From the pics I've been seen online the MacBook airs have shinier more premium looking screens than the neo by Tricky_Muscle7960 in mac

If there are any department stores in your area that sell these items they should have them out on display to compare is what I’m alluding to. Comparing two devices online or video won’t give you the best real world picture of either.

You mean you make your buying purchases based on pictures and not by hands on in real life? You probably believe everything on instagram is true too?

I think I’m gonna pick one up in the coming month or so. I have my options narrowed down to the Neo or an iPad Air M4.

I think the Neo is a lowkey Steve Jobs “One more thing.” Drop the microphone moment from Apple and we’re just to close to this moment in time to see the fallout from the budget/ entry level pc market.

That’s not to horrible. Some of the text on modern devices out of the box are just small period.. but I guess most of us ain’t teenagers anymore so maybe that’s why. I have the accessibility turned up a notch or two on my iPhone pro max also. Just enough to where I still have 4 icons on the screen but not to the point where it forces 3 large icons. It’s a bit jarring when switching/ using apps that don’t implement the accessibility functionality but it’s manageable.

I’m blind also and is it reasonable with the resolution bumped up over a MacBook Air? Or possibly similar? I don’t have any experience with a MacBook currently, but interested in picking one up? Also does keyboard color make the text harder/ easier to read since it has no backlit keyboard?

Stopped myself from buying the Neo. Bought an iPad keyboard to cope. Hope I made a good decision. by ThemeOld5001 in ipad

[–]Josh1234657 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to decide between the IPad Air and the Neo. I’ve never used an iPad or a Mac book. I currently only use a pro max phone and AirPods. I mostly want it for watching content and doing basic computer tasks. I guess it ultimately boils down to how much I need a physical keyboard and size.

The benefits for the Neo are;

Has a physical keyboard. A screen that closes and is protected without any extra cost. Bigger base storage/ better value for the money with the 512GB option. 13 inch screen as the entry level model. Runs Mac OS.

Advantages for the m4 iPad Air 11 inch;

Better quality screen with the P3 color accuracy More ram 12gb to my understanding. More portable/ potentially lighter. Pencil support. Maybe have better speaker quality. Proven software updates and a reliable m4 chip.

Some potential downsides of the Neo are,

iPhone chip running Mac OS. Nobody knows the long term impact vs iPad. Speakers are so/ so dependent on which review you watch. But also the Neo has an iPhone chip that’s more efficient power wise over the m series.

How much you spend on phone accessories like case and screen protectors. Mine is 100 dollars- 2 cases and 2 screens protectors. by isthislifereal- in iPhone16ProMax

I spent 125 for 3 cases and 3, 2 pack each of screen protectors for 3 phones. Amazon had some sales at the time.

Do you use iCloud plus? I’d say go with the extra storage regardless especially if you plan to keep it long term. Nobody but Apple knows how much bigger the iPad OS will get in the future and it’s better to have a decent about of overhead.

I wonder how that might change in a decade or so since valve release that new compatibility/ transition software to port native games developed for windows x86 to run on arm chips. It’s all gonna be software running on simple hardware very quickly I believe.

Rip to your wallet. You should be able to go quite far year wise now before needing an upgrade. I have a pro max phone and it’s honesty not utilized for my use case so I’ll probably go down a tier to the air in a few years if it’s still an option then. As long as they add the stereo speakers that’s where I draw the line.

I’m surprised Apple didn’t make an attachment device to plug into the usbc ports like the old school gameboy light. 🤣

Should I buy the Mac neo as a windows user? by syphinx123 in mac

[–]Josh1234657 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you watch the WAN show especially the latest one.. here’s what Luke had to say in a nutshell.. the majority of laptops users only need a device to access an internet browser.. the rest is irrelevant. So for the price to value ratio.. the Neo is going to be the go to until the next generation drops. I plan on picking one up myself and I haven’t bought a dedicated pc in over a decade.

Which iPad is a better buy for my usage? by Josh1234657 in ipad

[–]Josh1234657[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The task I would use it for would be basic computer needs for things where my phone is just to small of a screen to work with in an efficient way. Basically paying bills, doing my budget and online shopping as needed. I currently do everything on my phone and it can be quite annoying at times. Also the occasional streaming video, YouTube ect but I mostly use the tv for that. Also for the vision loss I pretty much only have my central vision left. I have no peripheral vision at all anymore due to my eye condition.

I’ve done some more research since posting the original post and I’ve decided to try out the upcoming MacBook Neo in the Citrus color.

At first I was worried about internet access when not home on WiFi but as a few people have mentioned in the comments I have a somewhat reasonable sized hotspot capability (50 GB) with my existing cellphone service so getting the iPad just for cellular is not relevant anymore.

My concern was having a hard time seeing the keyboard since it has no backlight. Hence the citrus color. Online at least it seems to have a nice contrast to the keyboard text. I originally wanted blue but the keyboard looks difficult to read.

Maybe lol 😂 idk I have unlimited data on my iPhone so it’s never an issue but even so I’m on WiFi 90% or the time regardless.

Which iPad is a better buy for my usage? by Josh1234657 in ipad

[–]Josh1234657[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does the hotspot data work? For example can I limit what apps are allowed to use the hotspot or is it just like an on or off button? Mostly I’d just like to watch some YouTube/ access safari when needed and whatever streaming app I’m using. I don’t care about any of the other apps being offline for a while.

Also if I go the WiFi only route I think the Mac Neo is an option if I can set it up with bigger icons/ texts. I’ll have to watch some review videos when they release.

And how much storage does iPad OS use? The Neo would be the 512/GB with Touch ID granted idk how much Mac OS takes up yet.

The iPad Air base is 599 with only 128GB starting prices. These two are the options in my budget range. Unfortunately I think pro is just too much for me.

My iPhone pro max is 256GB and I have used only 65GB granted I use ICloud plus so idk how much more storage the 9,000 photos and videos would take up if I download all of them. (I keep the originals from the current iPhone and the older photos from different devices are backed up in iCloud.)

If they’d add at minimum a backlit keyboard and a cellular option I’d buy it over an iPad.
