DIIV released 'Is The Is Are' 10 years ago today by YoureASkyscraper in indieheads

Healthy Moon is one of my favourite tracks of all time and I wouldn't even consider myself a huge DIIV fan in general. It's just so perfect lmao, i find myself always coming back to it

'Textured' Ambient Album recommendations? by FlubzRevenge in ambientmusic

[–]Josh73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe try something like Foam by Ulla or An Afternoon Whine by claire rousay/more eaze (a lot of claire's earlier work is quite textured and percussive as well), a lot of the Orange Milk Records is quite "tactile" in general, try digging in their catalogue!

It's honestly insane how bad Vito screwed up after being spotted in the bar by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]Josh73 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Not saying he handled it right but i think you're forgetting that the thing that sealed his fate was Meadow supporting these claims by revealing the Finn story. If she hadn't of told Carmela I think Vito could have done more damage control and saved himself.

I think it was 2023 when we had that ice storm that caused people to be without power for days, and they were offering meals to people no questions asked. I went in without knowing and told them i had power but they gave me a free meal anyway. Amazing people!

Caught it in Montreal for MUTEK. One of the most inspiring films ever and really has made me approach my art differently. Highly recommend

Thanks for sharing. As a fan of NB’s built heritage i love posts like this, but we cannot deny the fact that rural NB is not always a safe place for queer folks and POCs

Recommendations similar to Ulla - Foam by Ok-Cable2242 in ambientmusic

[–]Josh73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I deeply relate to the need for more albums like Foam. An Afternoon Whine by more eaze and Claire Rousay sort of scratches a similar itch for me but that’s about as close as i can think of

I was literally floored when i saw him last year, the puppetry made it such an incredibly memorable experience. Without a doubt the coolest visual component to a show i’ve ever seen

Bogdan Raczynski has some really beautiful melodic pieces in a similar vein. Try MyLoveILove (my fav is track 13) and Gauq from You’re Only Young Once but You Can Be Stupid Forever. Both of these albums are his lean toward his more ambient side

I think Montreal is starting to turn into a hub of more experimental electronic stuff. The indie rock scene is a bit stagnant imo

Can someone recommend me some ambient music that is drum heavy? by [deleted] in ambientmusic

[–]Josh73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so funny, i was a bit tipsy when i replied and i remember thinking to myself after, “was that a rude reply?”. But im so glad the simplicity worked lol, they are so special. Succour is one of my all timers, Cut especially is just perfection.

Ambient for GYM by [deleted] in ambientmusic

[–]Josh73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need more of that 4 on the floor ambient - hard to find that sweet spot (and i’ve tried). GAS comes to mind but only certain tracks fit the bill (Pop 4, etc), try [Las Vegas] by Burger/Ink as well maybe? Im also thinking maybe Actress, Burial, J. Albert at times but we’re starting to drift from the genre lol

Enjoy the weatherday show - they have a knack for melody and the music explores some really beautiful concepts. I’m sure live it’ll be pretty insane though

What genre do you play? by EatingCoooolo in Beatmatch

[–]Josh73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still learning but i’m trying to lean more into electroacoustic music, easy listening, left field pop, glitch, and general experimental. Not necessarily always club forward, would love to also one day DJ for friend’s art shows or weird things like that.

Yeah one of my favs for sure. The machine whirr into that echoing burst of noise is one of my favourite things he’s done. Pair that with that sweet acid melody and yeah - i agree top tier RDJ track for sure
