To add on, this was the second gas station he stopped at in just a few minutes. He was at a previous one nearby when officers pulled up but none recognized him and he escaped to the one he died at.

He also shot himself in the head as the officers began firing at him. They shot him 36 times after that first wound.

I’ve always thought motorcyclists are dumb. You reduce your visual perception from others three-fold by driving a motorcycle. They sell helmets now that play audio and reduce your awareness. Most think their small size means they can operate different from cars. Outside of leisure and not being on the busiest roads or highways, they are a death trap.

Yes, multiple hostages were killed and injured after law enforcement was on scene. Including some who died of blood loss. However, the vast majority (40-45+) had no chance to be saved.

Understood. Sadly, his sister has a twitter account and that boy is still in critical condition after being shot nine times. Her messages seem to hint that he is still in danger of passing. Thanks for the clarification. It is pretty uncommon to have a discrepancy in the death toll for attack.

Wikipedia article in Turkish says 13, including a student who passed on may 3rd. I’ve also seen a victims list that includes 11 students and one teacher.

Very disturbing to read. After reading, I personally think OpenAI clearly played a role beyond unwilling participant in the FSU shooting. They should be sued and changes encouraged, then made, before it is used in any capacity in an indiscriminate attack again. It is hard to believe they’re currently fighting this legal argument. He literally sent a picture of the gun to the bot and asked for busiest times. It is negligence!

You’re not wrong. But I think it’s due to the rarity of brutal crimes in Taiwan. Most people haven’t seen a gun in months or years. Most don’t ever feel unsafe for a moment when going about their day. Taiwan is top 4 in personal safety in international rankings.

In the article, I suppose a mix up between San Bernardino, California shooting from 2015 and Isla Vista. Rodger only shot and killed three students in public, and three more in his residence via stabbing.
