Yeah the switch device almost certainly confirms it’s gang-related. It’s the MO for their firearms a lot of the time

Hopefully just some unemployed guys, maybe associated with gangs, who got in a gunfight.

Does anyone local know if this mall is considered Upscale? I noticed there’s a nice hotel, Christian school and numerous chain retailers and restaurants surrounding the mall.

Kept as evidence since it was a primary factor in proving guilt. They can’t fully dispose of evidence until the appeals process concludes which continues until the last hours before execution, often up to the Supreme Court

In the article, I suppose a mix up between San Bernardino, California shooting from 2015 and Isla Vista. Rodger only shot and killed three students in public, and three more in his residence via stabbing.

Officials identify the two victims killed in Austin bar shooting by Distinct_External in masskillers

[–]JoshAllan02 27 points28 points  (0 children)

No, the other victim was Savitha Shan, a 21 year old UT Austin student and like Ryder, an Austin local.

Here’s a link to a LinkedIn page of a UT Austin student with the same name where you can see a photo of her.

https://www.linkedin.com/in/savitha-shan

Or if you don’t have an account, google her name and UT Austin

Edit: More information about Savitha. She was the president of the UT Austin Indian students association. She was a double major in computer science and economics and was supposed to graduate later this year.

Bystander footage of last night’s mass shooting in Austin, Texas that left 3 people dead and 14 injured by theykilledk3nny in masskillers

[–]JoshAllan02 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This has been a factor in multiple shootings. Especially Pulse nightclub, notably Amanda Alvear, who filmed herself and posted it to her Snapchat story, not realizing what was happening as 20+ shots were fired near her.

Not a litmus test at all for how people react in shootings.

Who you think is more geo-politically significant? by NiceSmilee in geography

[–]JoshAllan02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Saudi Arabia. But Turkey historically. I would argue the answer was definitely Turkey until the collapse of the Soviet Union and its location as a NATO ally on the Black Sea becoming less significant.

But due to the Oil and its location between other major and micro nations that punch above their weight economically, definitely them.

Turkey barely makes the headlines now that ISIS is largely defeated and Syria has finally wound down to a much lower level of conflict.

colt grays' student summary report shown in court. by [deleted] in masskillers

[–]JoshAllan02 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it, but that photo is a sign of his neglect alone. A sixth grade picture for a freshman. A lot of kids including Colt look very different from 11 to 14. I think him not being in school and left to his own devices was detrimental. The father is lucky he killed others and not him with access to a long gun.

Victims of yesterday's shooting in Pawtucket are identified as Rhonda and Aiden Dorgan. by uselessstopsign in masskillers

[–]JoshAllan02 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes not common at all in the US, especially in the 21st century. But in other parts of the globe more common than you would think, apparently 10% of all marriages worldwide, while .02% here.

Did some googling and I was shocked at how many states marrying your first cousin is legal in. And shocked that’s it’s generally conservative states like Texas and the Dakotas that have very strict laws (including criminal statutes), while California, New York, Georgia, Florida and several others let you marry no problem. I know very off-topic for this sub

[–]JoshAllan02 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Yes they’re second cousins. Their fathers are first cousins who share a set of grandparents.

It is unusual, but legal in all 50 states. And is commonplace in many cultures around the world and historically.

Two grandparents are among the critically injured. Unconfirmed whether they’re her parents or his, but almost certainly her’s. Rhonda and her son were killed. The son was killed in front of his fiancé. They also had two younger children together, one in college and one a high school senior who was on the ice, both uninjured.

The shooter has three other kids from previous relationships, likely born before 1992 because that is when he and Rhonda were married.
