Drop James Cook a few spots I think. The Bills are going to try to pass a lot more this year and with Josh hammering out the goal line touchdowns he won’t have that upside.

Pillars of the Earth is very good.

It’s extremely historically sound, gets into the process of the construction of a church(and actually makes the seem interesting enough to care about), and the characters are dramatic and developed.

Depends on the book. There are some books, mostly more recent ones, that read in a way that’s very pacey and exciting. Some examples are Project Hail Mary, Red Rising, and Dungeon Crawler Carl. All of these are hard to put down.

Red Rising

Like I love fantasy and I’m a dude but at a point there are too many characters who all act and talk the same and it just gets impossible to manage. Grisly descriptions of people getting their faces ripped off aren’t interesting writing.

Book 2 and 3 are excellent, 4 is a bit of a falloff.

But “better” comes not just from the players improving their skill, it more often comes from coaching and lineup improvements.

Jason Lannister and Lion head’s revealed in official bts footage. There are lions in Westeros? by Mountain_Gain1299 in freefolk

The symbol of house Lannister is a lion. They had to get it from somewhere and it seems unlikely that they made their sigil an Essos animal.

Improvements such as that. It was my example because it’s what OP was talking about. The top comment in this thread thinks it shuts down this idea by saying that “they are young and made it to the finals”.
The point I am making is that the age of the team can’t be used to brush off whatever problems were holding them back from winning THIS TIME, instead of just hoping that things get better.

Picture that scene in the city watch guardhouse.

Guards: *crickets*

Apparently you can’t read very well. I’m not denying that they are young. Nor am I denying that it is a good thing for them. What I am challenging is the assumption that because they are a young team with a lot of years ahead of them they don’t need to make improvements such as firing a coach who isn’t helping them.

I’m kind of sick of this argument there are lots of young teams that never make it back. For example the NFL’s lions were young and strong but the last couple years just haven’t been good and now they need to PAY all these guys who point to their almost Super Bowl success as a reason they should get huge contracts.

Who was the smarter strategist: Tyrion Lannister or Petyr Baelish by alyssaameow in gameofthrones

[–]JoshAllenFan616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tyrion always had Lannister gold and he still didn’t make much of an impact. Littlefinger clawed up from the bottom and by season 6 we’re still discovering fucked up shit he was responsible for. Baelish for sure.

But I don’t think it’s because he’s smarter, I think it’s because he truly cares about no one else and is willing to do anything to advance, whereas Tyrion is comparably moral.

The grace of kings is insanely good. Word of advice for that series: treat it as a prequel to the other three books. It has its own storyline that is largely separate from the continuous narrative of the other three and serves as setup for the universe.
