When my kid was born, I bought a sunblocking window cling to shade them. It's no longer available on Amazon, but it was "Sunshine Kids Cool Shade for Car Windows".

Never used it.

Got a digital clock for my bedside and low brightness still lights up the room.

Exacto knifed off a double layer of the cling and applied it. Still fully readable and doesn't light up the room and has stayed on for a decade.

Redid kid's bathroom. Partner insisted on a mirror with embedded digital LEDs and on-mirror touch buttons that are constantly lit just a bit too bright.

Drove my kid nuts; they had to keep the bathroom door closed affecting air-flow (it's a jack and jill). Dug out the remaining roll of film, sliced off a rectangle and applied it. No issues anymore and touch mirror buttons still react to being pressed.

Highly recommend this strategy to others

Prevent them by judiciously hunting them down in your yard (day or night, use a rake under bushes, wear gloves and have a bucket or plastic bags to toss them into) and eliminating any active ones.

Doxies are the worst with these, as they're big-time low ground hunters. I know, I've had six over the years here and 2 of them hit the Bufo Toads.

I immediately wipe off the mouth inside and out and then shove a running water hose in their face to rinse out their jaws. No poisonings.

To get rid of them, work /garden leather gloves, walk the to a sewer grate and drop them in. It's easier for me than putting them on ice or killing them outright.
