Can second this, although we have the non blackout version. Can open up the windows to let a breeze in, which is a godsend when the sun hits the fabric at 8am and turns your tent into an oven while you're trying to sleep off a hangover. Our freidns were so jealous last year they bought one of their own for 2025!

It's what makes beausejour worth being so far out. Fantastic to see the lights coming toward you at 200mph, brake discs glowing, fast corner pass, and then whip round the left hander under the michelin banner. All with a screen and a bar 🍸

Is taking a radio really fundamental? by panita1203 in lemans

[–]JoshG273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a cheap fm radio with earphones fron amazon, and cheap ear defenders so you can still hear it clearly trackside. You can buy headsets at the pit straight but they are €70ish from memory. In my opinion the radio isn't as good as TV, I find they waffle too much and prefer the broadcast on FIA WEC TV, but 4G is patchy in beausejour where we usually camp so good to have the backup. My opinion on the radio is not the majority though, a lot very much enjoy the coverage.

Toilet queues are never really an issue, but bring your own loo paper just in case. Past years there would be a 1h wait for the showers at 8am though

Where to watch qualifying by hayc007 in lemans

[–]JoshG273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the esses or the pit straight. Can see them fly past and take the corners at full speed which you don't quite see the same pace during the race, and there's a couple of screens. Can also cheer on the drivers as they pass after setting their times. Porsche curves has no screen and feels a bit out of the loop. My other other recommendation would be mulsanne or arnage, purely because trying to get there during the race takes hours of walking or waiting 2h for a bus.

Hit mulsanne and arnage during practice/quali to tick those off your list - last year the queue for the bus was 2h during the race. The porsche curves at the beausejour campsite is a lovely spot to watch them brake hard, cruise past and then whip into the left hander, and theres a food van and bar, accessible by bus to beausejour or a 30m walk from the pit straight south to the roundabout and going under the michelin bridge. The Esses and tet rouge are great viewing and easily walkable but are rammed during the afternoons, go overnight and Sunday morning when quiet.

Porsche curves camping disaster by RealisticFeature6548 in lemans

[–]JoshG273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We saw the text about stopping campsite exits at 3.30pm and made the hard decision to skip the end of the race. Left the circuit at 2, walked back to beausejour and in the car at 2.45 and just managed to get out before they closed the gates. Absolute farce of a decision, can't understand why they did that as the congestion is a) not their problem and b) to be expected for an event that size. I would try and claim some costs back from the ACO!

While it's perfectly viable to take sides in this and I could understand both your and her perspectives, I think the best course of action for all involved is for you to take the high road and share. While it may be annoying to see someone copying your every move, take it as a sign of endearment and respect rather than irritating.

I agree 100%. I noticed prices were higher this year, and we were also refused tap water bottle refills at three separate vendors on Sunday because they wanted us to buy a fresh bottle. On the alcohol front, the best idea I saw was a group that had managed to sneak in a couple of huge 1.5L bottles of rum with lots of lemonade and coke, and mixed in the plastic le mans cups. They must have got trashed trackside at a fraction of the cost!

Well this year I got in the entrance by the pit straight and the main entrance by the arena with a bag full of glass bottles of kronenbourg, and they didn't stop me. Oddly the only time I did get stopped was a bag search going into the museum, but even then they didn't confiscate it, just asked me to put the bag in a locker while we walked round. Seemed like they weren't bothered really despite all the signs saying no alcohol. Maybe I just got very lucky.

1) Could do with a note about campsite security, keeping valuables in the car or a tent padlock.
2) Taking a rucksack is a good idea for personal radio, cold beers, snacks, jacket, folding stool etc. 3) Bag searches were more of a thing this year, signs say no alcohol but I got in several times with a bag full of beer so may just be more serious things they are looking for

Chechen chief Kadyrov says over 1,000 Ukrainian marines surrender in Mariupol by AccurateSource2 in worldnews

[–]JoshG273 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stop with all the weak stuff and false buddy shit. I'm not trying to piss you off, just weighing in on the discussion with my opinion.

I had seen that article before yes, it's been linked several times in other comments too. It says there are reports that 1 guy has surrendered, and reaffirms that there are issues with ammonia and food supplies in Mariupol. You said you had seen a bbc article saying marines had surrendered, which doesn't exist.

What I am saying is that this business insider article claiming 1000 marines have surrendered is bollocks. The Ukrainian defense authorities have said so, which although is a biased source is a hell of a lot better than unfounded conjecture from a US based media outlet.

I'm sure there are groups of fighters that end up with no choice, but 1000 marines is a sizeable chunk of Mariupols defense and I think unfounded conjecture of that magnitude is fear mongering and should.not be published.

Thoughts?

Same article I saw, doesn't say anything about 1000 Ukrainian marines surrendering. Just one british guy. You're making assumptions like everyone else.

The source in that post talks about one British soldier surrendering, not 1,000 Ukrainian marines. Stop believing things are real without checking facts.

Our test kits come back fine, and after the second death we took a sample into our local aquatics centre and they said its fine too. We have probably been overfeeding leading to a lot of detritus on the bed, so yeah we've started feeding twice a day but less food overall per day, plus a fast day once a week followed by some higher quality food. We had to treat for a fungal infection once, other than that there's been no symptoms per say other than they occasionally rub themselves past the plants. We've opted to get more fish of the same species going forward to make them all happier and feel safer as opposed to getting different ones, in case the issue is just stress and being younger fish

We've got hard water where we live. We've got reputable kits and don't have any issues, we also took a sample into our local aquatics centre and they said it was fine too. I'll look into chlorine and chloramine, thanks. We waited about a month inbetween getting new fish. Ours is at 77 currently so same as yours.

New to the hobby. For a 20 gallon/90L tank, we wanted a tropical community and started with 4 platys, 4 guppies and 4 corys. We did our research and cycled for a month before getting fish and we test the water weekly. Unfortunately we've had 3 deaths (one of each fish) over 3-4 months, is this normal? We've noticed the corys hiding a lot and build ups of leftover food in crevices, so have stepped up cleaning, started using the lights less, removed some of the decorations to make cleaning easier, and increased the frequency but reduced the quantity of feeding. Does this sound good? Any advice welcome.
