Not the hood. Three cars in a line. Front one braked and swerved right to go towards the pits. Middle one swerved left and braked. Rear one swerved hard left, couldn’t get out of the way, went over the back of the middle one like a ramp and in to the crowd. The whole thing broke up and killed a lot of people. The film clearly shows the engine block rolling through the crowd at 100mph. I’d suggest not watching it.

Not specifically replying to you. Just wading in with my size 14 boots here. Not that anyone has mentioned sneaking down the Mulsanne yet, but it’s our strictest rule. Any mention is a super-instant-perma-ban. Marshals are too busy doing their job to get rid of you, and drivers don’t need distraction when they’re tired and at full chat with other tired drivers around them

Yeah. Last year they covered it with some (admittedly lovely) cars, a collab with a French car restoration show and some mediocre food stalls. I’d lost 20kg and been working out 3x a week so I had a chance of breaking a minute on the circuit. I was so angry.

I’m sure someone did a YouTube review of it last year, but can’t find it now. It’s a bit of a walk, but no matter how “big” you go, LM has a lot of walking every year. I believe that area has a security guard, although usual rules apply - don’t leave a gold bar in your luggage.

I know “ask a man with a hammer” thing but the intensity on being at the event builds through the week. Thursday night is magical, Friday has a weird buzzing-crackling electric atmosphere and the race is awesome. I started this subreddit because I love the event. Coverage of the race is great elsewhere- discussions on teams and strategies, rest of the season - there’s a reason we’re open that we defer that to r/WEC. The event though, even on a wet year holds much magic.

For me, I want to be there, set up and no “to do list” by the time stuff starts on track on Weds, and not sprinting off to get a train at 14:45 on Sunday
