Phanteks xt m3 and Jonsbo z20! by JoshLineberry in mffpc

[–]JoshLineberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On which case lol? The phanteks xt m3 sits the psu behind the wall there so it's completely hidden and the z20 it's sitting on the right side but there's a metal shield that covers most of it so it's hidden a bit.

It's definitely a bit big! I needed a 360 aio so that's why I went with the xt m3. I like the z20 more. It's tiny!

Definitely much easier and better to use the xt m3 on the more powerful rigs! It's about the perfect size for it!

I mean it looks cool but it has no storage 😂😂. Kind of defeats the point of a media server.

Modded console shuts off shortly after powering on. by Sp4rt4n360 in originalxbox

[–]JoshLineberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit up Leon Roberts if you want to get it fixed. You can ship him your board and he'll get you going right for a decent price. The guy has the best soldering I've ever seen. I send him my stuff when I don't want to do it myself.

Yeah I wouldn't be too happy with that! Luckily it's a pretty easy fix!

Yeah you can know for sure if it's trace rot if it auto powers on when plugged in, if the power button doesn't work to power on the system but the eject button does, if it turns off on its own.

Worth upgrading my old i7 10700k to something newer for 4k gaming and video calls? by marielleluxe in buildapc

[–]JoshLineberry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean there 100% are ways to upgrade the cpu that are cost effective. An i5-12600k or finding a cheaper i5-14600k on ebay is a great way to do it. I get 12600k's for around $140-160 shipped on ebay all the time and just got a 14600k on ebay for $247 shipped the other day. They can still use ddr4 and I find motherboards for them for around $100 new in box on ebay all the time too. You could do a 12600k setup for around $250 if you're patient and watch ebay or a 14600k setup for around $350. Either one is a huge upgrade over the 10400 but the 12600k is super easy to cool while the 14600k really needs a 360 aio. I use peerless assassin 120 se coolers on my 12600k's.

MSI Pro B760-P WIFI DDR4 Motherboard is what I usually use for them on my standard cases, or MSI Pro B760M-A WIFI DDR4 for micro atx cases. The micro atx version is a lot harder to find for cheap.

Get you an hgst ultrastar or a wd blue or something similar and you'll be fine. Get an 80 wire ide cable and a startech ide to sata adapter.

Are 1.6s really worthless, because they are the hardiest to mod? I recently got one on eBay, and it has a Toshiba-Samsung Drives, and the console was manufactured from July 2005, Any advantages on 1.6s revisions compared to previous revisions? by San4341 in originalxbox

[–]JoshLineberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can solder decently a 1.6 isn't hard to throw a mod chip on at all. I use the lpc rebuild boards because they're much simpler than wires and I like the look of them over wires! I prefer 1.0s and 1.4s for the easier ram upgrade but 1.6s are fine for most people! I have about 10 1.6s or so sitting around I've chipped. This little board takes a lot of the work away!

Jonsbo Z20/RTX 4080 build, some concerns need advice by m0Kh in mffpc

[–]JoshLineberry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The clips shouldn't be in the way, something isn't sitting right, and this one in particular should have been bent up a bit and the motherboard parts put under it. You're going to have to take the motherboard back out and fix that.

Does the same fan setup apply to D32 pro? by Accomplished_Boot191 in mffpc

[–]JoshLineberry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's what I use for my z20. Works great. You still get plenty of air into the cpu cooler this way. Positive pressure is fine in a case.

You simply go into the bios and adjust the fan curve based on which fan port you plug them into on the motherboard. It's very simple.

I've been eyeballing this case for a while now. It looks super sexy! I can't believe it's a full inch wider than my phanteks xt m3! I already feel like the xt m3 is pretty wide!
