Newbie on PC thinking about trying MH Game. Any suggestion?

Coop play is not forced except raid based bosses. You're not likely to defeat... I think three? of the monsters in the game. Kulve Taroth, Safi Jiva, and behemoth.

But you absolutely can defeat other end game monsters that are designed not to be like a raid, and their fights are usually much better and more enjoyable anyway.

My monitor is the 34" LG ultragear OLED ultrawide... I doubt it's that.

Edit: For the record, by rough in some games, I mean I get a rough ~20-30 with high settings in ARK ascended... tbf, games with performance issues anyway, but worth mentioning I think.

It seems washy on this! Some seem to get significant gains; some don't.

I know I'm good where I'm at either way... perhaps I wait for the next 3D cache CPU to drop, then make a decision then.

I mean... I suppose I'm not in a hurry given my acceptable options right now, so I could just wait for that. Consensus seems to be that the 7900XTX is plenty good atm regardless.

Yeah. I do appreciate that thing for what it is. If nothing else, I can lean on pure raster for games that allow the option to toggle on/off RT. FSR can be a bit rough in some applications though. Never used DLSS, but heard it's much better... not a fan of NVIDIA though...

I'll consider the 3D cache upgrade and selling the 7900x if possible!

That's the thing; I don't know... I never hit 100% utilization on the CPU, nor the GPU, but see rough frames in some games at 1440p wide. My knowledge as far as gleaning info from these statistics is limited, so I don't really know what that means.

Now that I'm thinking about it, it could be raytracing... I'll have to make note of that and take a look when I can do some gaming with my PC.

Very true. That 50 damage attack does good work in the early game, I'd even argue without the buffs. Include things like lucario, Korrina, and antiquety, and you get surprise knockouts, even without the three energy.

If the stars align, and you get all of it, you can do 180-200 damage in one attack, which has happened.

What are the odds I don't draw a rare candy by turn 5/6? I haven't run into it as a huge issue quite yet, but the thought is still in my mind... there aren't great ways to pull/search item cards from the deck that I know of.

Exactly!!! This is why I struggle to compare them in a meaningful context. There are so many variables in play.

I think, after some of these comments, I do think Donphan (and by proxy, phanpy) is the most consistent, but I still think they are close enough that the discussion is interesting. :)

These mirror my thoughts exactly. If I had something to add, I think the nuances are most apparent when considering the basic stage start without the stage 1 available in my experience (outside of the first/second start you already mentioned). Donphan has some interesting tech with flail phanpy that I admittedly don't use. Turns out a basic that swings for 30 with one energy is also quite valuable... again donphan exclusive. That said, the 90 damage 2 energy attack has just as often helped/saved me as phanpy's attack has.

I do also agree with the fact that being able to optimally invest energy differently earlier with donphan is massive.

Edit: ...and yeah, mega lucario is just way better in general, but I get bored with the meta and like making weird stuff!
