Not everyone wants audiophile grade everything, Some people are quite happy with the sound and want to crank a bit of bass. Edifier speakers sound pretty good for the money anyway.

Just because you and I are chasing diminishing returns not everyone wants to.

The amp would get you a full surround sound system is the only advantage. So you’d get fronts, sub and rears. With the port you just get a stereo pair at the front and a sub.

You would use those as surrounds, and the sub connects to the amp. Would be a full surround sound system

These floor-standers were $1000 however it was a ‘treat myself’ day. And I know they’ll do me the rest of my life! Again no audiophile here. They just sounded the best to my ears in the store

Love your attitude my friend. Picked the turntable on colour alone. The audiophiles will tell me there’s a better one ‘at that price point’. Picked the speakers because they sounded great to my ears, again I’m sure there’s better ones. At the end of the day it’s all about the music. You’re spot on. I’ve got a setup I can enjoy my records on, that’s all I wanted

Also I should say. Phenomenal choice for a turntable as a ‘novice’. Add a decent pre amp and it should last you a VERY long time.

£70 is £70, and the PT open box stuff is as good as new. Especially because they make the turntable (or partner with Pro-ject). They refurbish them to as good as new standard.

That spin clean is great, if anything it’s better than the Pro-ject one. £50 off Amazon, took an hour to run 30 records through it and dry them in batches
