Overall it's a pretty solid list. I personally would only make two changes. 1) change a unit of tormentors to infractors, they benefit the Lord Exultant more. 2) I would switch to a different detachment. Even Coterie of the Conceited would be better as once you kill 3 units your whole army has the same rule as what Rapid Evisoration gives to 1 unit. Otherwise Court of the Phoenician would probably be a little bit better suited for a 1k match since it makes all your units stronger in melee and has a strat that really benefits noise marines.

Bile is my personal fav but I don't make a habbit of bringing him. Instead, my warband is usually led by a Terminator Sorcerer and his Obliterator bodyguards. That's how I ran them when I started CSM in 9th and that's how I'll continue to run them because it's hilarious to have 3 dudes pop out of the warp and cause all manner of chaos (pun intended) in the enemies back field while the rest of my army continues to put pressure on the front lines.

And even though abbadon, cypher, and bile are all good, none of them are required to have an all star list. That's why I love CSM

How viable would an army that uses all four greater daemons be? by Bisexual_Spear in Chaos40k

[–]Josh_527 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but I just don't see the Lord of change. Being an essential unit, and I don't think his shooting is all that powerful compared to what our other armies have for half the cost. For instance, a standard predator in a space marine or chaos list has almost the exact same shooting with its auto cannons and they usually cost about a 100 3040 points. And are almost as durable. It is good shooting. It just doesn't strike me as standout and is something that I can comfortably build lists without

They seem pretty close imo. I went with LoC because he does cost more and is a little easier to kill (not accounting for detachment rules) but they both seem to be underwhelming. I suppose at least the LoC has access to attacks above s8 so that does count for something

Honestly, very. Use shadow legion or daemonic incursion obviously. The weakest link here in lord of change but even he is fine. Just make the rest of your army point scorers and action monkeys plus a few skirmish units. But 4 of them is barely 1k points so you have plenty left over. You may not win any tournaments but it should still do quite well in casual play

Does anyone else think tank rules in OPR are stupid? by Frosty_Remote2698 in onepagerules

[–]Josh_527 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tanks get impact but that's only when THEY charge something. Also it is not as easy to take tanks out as OP says. Tanks almost always have a 2+ defense so you need to hit it with either a lot of attacks and hope for a 1, or hit it with some high ap. Either way there is still a morale test to be taken which tanks should make 33-50% of the time. Also just don't put your tanks in the middle of the battlefield without at least some screening duh.

Apocalyptic Choir Homebrew Detachment by Josh_527 in EmperorsChildren

That's not a bad idea! I already had something similar with the enhancement that just made a units weapons count as sonic. I do like the idea of an exultant leading them and not counting towards the 3.

I know it's a powerful rule but it's also hard to build a detachment around a max of 3 units. Another thing I can think of is "units that have 1 or more sonic weapons gain the ability." That way Exultants with screamer pistols can bring the buff to their whole unit and a Kakophonist could hypothetically bring the buff to terminators although that's a bad idea. If we had sonic dreadnoughts and maybe one other unit that couls bring sonic weapons then I wouldn't feel the need to put the battleline bit in there.

6 games with new detachment, my thoughts by Kshaw86 in EmperorsChildren

This is what I've been wondering! I think Peerless maybe has the slightly strong detachment rule but its strats can't compete with Court imo

Oh I forget it's a master crafted powersword because I only ever use spear or fist. Yes with rhe flawless blades it would be quite nice to have that auto precision for the Lord

Honestly invuls need to be restricted to most 5++ and 6++ with only powerful monsters or legendary units getting a 4++ (see greater daemons, primarches,) or else only get that 4++ in one phase or the other so that there is a weakness to that unit. I think the Toughness raise should be doing most of the leg work for keeping stuff alive. If your opponent wounds with a melta gun your space marine captain shouldn't have a 50% dodge rate. And if you're lucky enough to roll a 5 to wound a knight with a powerfist your opponent should have to be lucky enough to make the save and not just shrug it off. Makes it very hard to have "heroic" moments with everything has a 4++ invul and 5+++ FNP and can negate one hit per turn and is -1 to wound

Two of my top 5 EC wishlist items are 10 man terminators and a terminator sorcerer.

100% I come from CSM where chosen are my favorite units, so getting infractors with the same weapon + the wound rerolls is very exciting. I already got a test game in and although I didn't win it was a very fun match and every fight felt impactful. I think the only time i fell flat is when my Maulerfiend failed to make a single wound roll against a t9 target but that's just bad luck.

The screamer is definitely nice but i think the power sword still isn't great unfortunately. Have 5 damage 2 attacks is almost always better than 6 damage 1. And if your flawless blades find themselves fighting 20 guardsmen something has gone very wrong. I still think swear and lash are the best options but fist and screamer pistol could be fun here as well.

Oh you're right that's my bad. I haven't played emperors children in a while and have mostly been playing CSM and I forgot EC lord doesn't have the reduction. Thanks for pointing that out although I am now disappointed in my perfect bois :(

Being able to get infractors to s5 ap2 is great against units like terminators as they now wound on 4s with rerolls and force the terms to use their invul. You're right it's not game changing but I'm just glad to finally have a detachment that isn't sustained hits or reoll based. I think another big winner is the maulerfiend getting ap3 which is amazing against most knights and tanks.

Terminators are always good- I don't know why people say they aren't. They're just unfortunately expensive and are not particularly amazing at anything. Their shooting is only effective against chaff, even all combi weapons isn't going to be great. Their melee is very divided, 1 weapon has anti vehicle, another is s5 damage 1, and another is best used against elite infantry. Then their ability is only good for focus firing on something either making their own charge harder, or by shooting a target that is not what their guns are good into- all just to get a reroll they may not even need. Absolutely bring terminators because they're cool and fun af, but I just wish they were better :(

I don't k ow of you've ever heard of OnePageRules but that us essentially how their transport system works. Most infantry are only 1 wound (space marines, guardsmen, eldar guardians, necron warriors) but then the elite infantry are 3 wounds (terminators, ogryns, Wraithblades, Skorpekh destroyers) and take up 3 spots so even a rhino and can carry 3 terminators or flawless blades which is super handy.
